"LEGENDS"

COLLECTOR'S CORNER

The item you are bidding on is a 1959 (RARE-MONO),  (VG++ to NEAR- MINT) copy of :

ELVIS PRESLEY, "A DATE WITH ELVIS"

on RCA VICTOR records

#LPM-2011 (MONO)

*THIS IS AN ORIGINAL U.S. PRESSING

*THIS IS NOT AN IMPORT, REISSUE, OR COUNTERFEIT PRESSING.

*ORIGINAL SHINY BLACK RCA VICTOR LABEL.

* "RCA VICTOR" IN SILVER with FULL-BODIED NIPPER (DOG) UNDERNEATH.

*THE BOTTOM OF THE BLACK LABEL SAYS, LONG 33 1/3 PLAY.

*CLEAN, BASICALLY WEAR-FREE LABELS (FEW LIGHT SPINDLE MARKS)

*THE RECORD COMES IN AN ORIGINAL STOCK INNER SLEEVE.

*ORIGINAL "GLOSSY" COVER

* ORIGINAL STICKER ON COVER FRONT.

*INNER GATEFOLD SHOWS MANY ARMY PICTURES OF ELVIS.

*THE RECORD IS PRESSED ON A BEAUTIFUL, RELATIVELY THICK, INFLEXIBLE VINYL, this is NOT a thin, flimsy (dynaflex' type), but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl either.

*MONO COPY PRESENTED HERE, MAKING IT QUITE RARE.

*THIS IS A MUCH RARER COPY WITH "LABEL STATING LONG PLAY," BEING A "GATEFOLD COVER," AND "COVER WITH STICKER".

(***PLEASE SEE THE PICTURES OF THE LP AND COVER BELOW***)>NOTE: this is a REAL image of the ACTUAL item you are bidding on. This is NOT an image from a previous auction. What you see is what you get.

It is a GREAT COPY in this condition.

(Just a personal note of honesty)...I really appreciate this as an authentic and original pressing, perhaps, a collector's dream, but musically speaking (the technology back then) leaves a lot to be desired! Some cuts are beautifully produced, i.e., "Good Rockin' Tonight," "Is It So Strange,""We're Gonna Move," and of course, "Young and Beautiful". But others, i.e., "Milkcow Blues Boogie" sounds like it was dropped in instead of produced in (too muffled - age is showing)! Well, give me the better technology; let's say of the '70s on... thank you! In fact, listening to it 47 years after its release makes you really want to hear the 2001 Japanese CD reissue, in 24-bit digital audio!

That's what makes the world go around!

THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!

CONDITION OF THE RECORD:

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, we grade ALL records under a strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight).

  • WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. A difficult album to grade since it's between TWO grades; somewhere between VG++ and NEAR-MINT, perhaps just a notch below NEAR-MINT. CAUTION! If you are a RIGOROUS AND DEMANDING COLLECTOR, this LP may be VG+ to VG++ for your standards. There are just a few fine surface marks/fine scratches, very light and superficial abrasions - mostly sleeve scuffs (probably inflicted in storage over the years) and are BARELY visible under discrete sunlight. You'll find a few spindle marks on label - faint and light on each side - on a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of spindle mark wear as 2-3 (see picture)
  • MUCH of the original luster is intact and the vinyl still shines after 47 years.

CONDITION OF THE COVER:

The COVER IS... CLOSE TO EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD+.

THE COVER IS VERY NICE FOR ITS AGE (despite the flaws listed below):

  • Cover has a GATEFOLD with bottom half about 1/64th of an inch longer than top half (this may have pulled on the spine at the other end just a bit, thus; spine turned under just a speck - nothing significant).
  • Cover has very little visible fraying on the left/top/and right seam.
  • Cover has very little corner wear.
  • Cover has a minute number written in ink (15 xv) - very small - front side; very upper right corner and a four letter name (fran - maybe previous owner) written on back cover (again, very small) - see picture.
  • Someone may have used a push pin to hold up cover. A very small pin hole - very top (only found in 1/2 of cover; front, not back) once in place would then allow the cover to drop open exposing all the inner gatefold Army pictures of Elvis. You may see it (or not) as a little black dot in picture below.
  • Cover has VERY FAINT and VERY SMALL water or dirt mark (less than 1/4th square inch in size; bottom left corner and 1/8th inch long upper left corner).

NOT FOUND ON COVER:

    • NO RING WEAR!
    • NO ANGLE CUTS, SAW MARKS
    • NO WARPING
    • NO CUT-OUT CORNERS
    • NO STAMPS
    • NO PEEL-OFF MARKS
    • NO RAZOR MARKS
    • NO SCRATCHES, LINES, STREAKS OR CUTS

THE CUTS:

SIDE ONE:

  • BLUE MOON OF KENTUCKY
  • YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL
  • (You're So Square) BABY I DON'T CARE
  • MILKCOW BLUES BOOGIE
  • BABY LET'S PLAY HOUSE

SIDE TWO:

  • GOOD ROCKIN' TONIGHT
  • IS IT SO STRANGE
  • WE'RE GONNA MOVE
  • I WANT TO BE FREE
  • I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET
