A very nice condition and highly presentable copy of this hard to find and sought after 1956 UK original 1st press Elvis Presley classic, on the UK purple HMV record label with the all important gold text, 45-POP 272

An overall lovely condition copy of this rare and sought after 1956 Elvis rock 'n roll classic, underplayed and with just a few wispy hairlines and very light surface marks on each side, only really visible with close inspection under a bright light, and a single 15mm light scratch on side 1, 8mm of which is just (and only just felable), none of which seem to affect playback. Impressive gold text with purple background labels labels with the scarcer, and remaining perfectly intact, 4-prong push-out centre with just a couple of light marks on the side 1 label. Plays great with brilliant tone and clarity, and no obvious clicks or background crackle/interference : very impressive audio reproduction, especially considering it's 64 year old antiquity. Comes with original HMV white and red writing outer sleeve with some mild creasing, a 4cm split on one side edge, some fraying on the top edges, and a single 2cm tear on the circumference of the die-cut. An overall impressive and very presentable copy, with great sound quality, of this increasingly rare Elvis gem.

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1    7XAV  1482 - 1N with stampers "RT 1" and "A" at 10 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

Side 2   7XAV  1483 - 1N with stampers "RT 1" and "A" at 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively

Comes with original red and white HMW sleeve with some mild creasing, a 4cm split on one side edge, some fraying on the top edges, and a single 2cm tear on the circumference of the die-cuc - but still fully functional. Note that I always insert the record into a replacement plain white sleeve in order to protect the original during postage.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the original outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler

Interestingly, it has come to light that this is the rarer Made In England for sale in the Netherlands version, since the label and sleeve referencing is "Cad" as opposed to "CAD" and the run-out matrix lacks the x after A1.
