Description

"Christmas With Elvis" EPA 4340 1958 U.S. RCA EP VG+/M-

"White Christmas"/"Here Comes Santa Claus"/"Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem"/"Silent Night" US (RCA) EPA 4340 (mono)

This hard to find EP came out in October, 1958- exactly 1 year after the full length "Elvis' Christmas Album" (LOC-1035) from which these 4 songs are drawn. It features Irving Berlin's perennial "White Christmas" obviously influenced by Clyde McPhatter & the Drifters early 50's R&B version. This arrangement was considered controversial at the time & was banned on many radion stations. Also featured are Gene Autry's "Here Comes Santa Claus" as well as 2 traditional Christmas carols- "Oh Little Town Of Bethlehem" & "Silent Night". The front cover features the same graphics as the second issue of "Elvis" Christmas Album" (LPM- 1951). The back cover consists of  the track listing & title above b&w minis of the other 2 EPs from LOC-1035- "Elvis Sings Christmas Songs" (EPA-4108) & "Peace In The Valley" (EPA-4054). Overall the sleeve looks great with minor ring wear on the front & back covers & slight aging on the back cover- otherwise great condition with no tears, writing or split seams. The record has the original pressing black RCA "dog on top" labels. The rarely played record has minor fingerprints on the disc but no scratches or scuffs. Overall condition VG+/M-.
