ELVIS PRESLEY – “ELVIS’ CHRISTMAS ALBUM” (LOC-1035), AN ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING FROM 1957, INCLUDING A FULLY INTACT BOUND-IN PHOTO ALBUM! NO SPLITS!
RECORD: VG+ on the upper end of the scale with full original gloss! However, there are some very light surface scuffs as well as a few scratches, none of which can be felt with the fingertip. This Rockaway pressing played great upon test-play with strong vocals and instrumentation. Other than some sporadic “ticks”, there were no skips or repeats. The labels are very clean, attractive and original, showing just a few very light spindle marks on each side. This is a First Pressing, released in November of 1957. It includes “Blue Christmas” as well as other favorite Christmas standards along with four Gospel songs on Side 2. These original, LOC-1035 copies are very seldom seen this nice! The matrix numbers end with 4S/3S.
COVER: VG++ (EXC) and oh! So close to NM with no seam splits, tape, writing or staple holes. With this particular issue, we normally see a lengthy, gaping spine split; not with this cover! This spine remains solid and smooth with the Gold Print standing out boldly. The lower edges of the gate fold cover show some shelf wear (please see all 12 photos), but the upper edges show only a couple of tiny wear spots. Ring wear is almost a non-issue with this cover, with just very minor surface wear present from having contact with other albums over the decades. The bound-in Photo Album is simply gorgeous! It is fully intact with absolutely no rust on the staples. There are no tears, scribbling, writing, bends, creases or stains on any of the pages. It is entirely original! Covers this solid and original are becoming tougher to find these days for this very short-lived issue! “Elvis’ Christmas Album” was repackaged with a totally new number (LPM-1951) and cover design in 1959 (or 1958, depending on the source material).
