ELVIS PRESLEY – ELVIS PRESLEY (LPM-1254) FIRST PRESSING from 1956
RECORD: VG- with many light scratches and scuffs, none of which can be felt with the fingertip. Most would grade this Indianapolis pressing as full VG because the vinyl remains very clean and exhibits nice gloss. The record was play-tested in its entirety and there were no skips or repeats! However, the highs on a couple of the tracks, namely “I’m Counting On You” and “Tutti Frutti” resulted in some audible distortion. This is Elvis’ debut album and the one that ignited the Elvis fever across the nation in 1956! The matrix numbers end with 3S/5S.
COVER: G+ with an upper seam split of 7-3/4 inches and a lower split of 7-1/2 inches in length. On the front and to the upper left corner, there appears to have been a small sticker of some kind removed as there is some surface lift present. The original owner’s name is handwritten just beneath that. Her name is also seen on the back side to the upper left-hand corner. At the opposing corner, is a small rubber-stamped purple star. The original “L. Bamberger” price sticker of $3.58 remains affixed to the lower right corner on the front. The overall appearance of this cover remains very clean and attractive with very minimal surface wear or scuffing. An “RCA Victor” inner sleeve is included, though it is not original to this album. Original sleeves of this era were the glassine, or “onion skin” style sleeves.
GOOD LUCK!
