Label: HMV Red - Immaculate Labels.

Vinyl: The album is in Very Good + condition, it has been professionally cleaned on an Okki Nokki machine supplied by www.stamfordaudio.co.uk and looks superb. No scratches, there are some surface and spindle marks marks and no fingerprints. The overall sound quality of the album is superb throughout although there is surface noise on all tracks. This is more evident on the quieter tracks but having listened to the album several times, it does not detract from the listening experience. I cannot detect any pops, clicks or jumps normally associated with albums of this age. There is a little paper scuffing but I've seen newer albums with worse than this. There is minimal ringwear by the spindle hole on both sides. The album had been stored away for many years before it came into my possesson. I have pro cleaned it twice as it was quite dusty and it looks great. It lies perfectly flat on the deck. Stunning material and highly recommended.

Sleeve: The laminated rounded flipback sleeve is in Very Good condition. The colours to the front are unwashed with the green velvet shirt looking bright and clean. The yellow background is marked to the left and right of Elvis' head. There is damage to the middle of the spine making it unreadable. There is wear to the record entry point. The very thin layer of plastic coating is still intact to the front sleeve. There is also some light ringwear on the front sleeve. The rear sleeve has four picture to the top, no pen marks and has some light fading. However, the flipbacks are intact and have not lifted. There is a small tear (about 1") to the record entry point about two thirds of the way up the rear sleeve. Extensive sleeve notes to the rear. The record is housed in a new lined inner sleeve.

Description: Classic HMV album from Elvis Presley released to some acclaim in 1957. Heaven knows what the British public thought of this when it came out, it still sounds like it was recorded yesterday and way ahead of anything else.  Awesome material, Colenel Parker has a lot to answer for by pushing this talent into medicore films and covering sub standard material.

Record Grading:

All records are graded as per the standards set by Record Collector. Records are examined under a strong halogen light and graded accordingly. In addition, all NON MINT records are played on a LINN Axis turntable with an Akito arm with a Roksan cartridge. I tend not to get carried away with the classification or use words like “impossibly rare” “vault copy” or any other such nonsense.  My reviews are precise and to the point.  It is assumed that you know something of the artist so I rarely provide a description of who they are/were etc. The High Numbers become The Who, `N Betweens become Slade – you will not find a long description on the history in these reviews.

Record Cleaning:

All NON MINT albums are professionally cleaned prior to classification on an Okki Nokki record cleaning machine before dispatch.  Machine available from www.stamfordaudio.co.uk

Packaging: (all vinyl 7” + 12”)

Packaging is of the highest quality.  I use professional mailers at all times, each record is supported by 2 cardboard stiffeners. The inner sleeve and record are packed individually in order to reduce wear on the sleeve in transit. The record, inner and cardboard stiffeners are then packed inside a high grade polythene record protector before being sealed in the mailer. The mailer is then supported by tape around the edges in order to minimise risk.
