THE COVER:

The fully laminated cover is in very good to excellent condition. The front has two small tears near the opening edge and a small surface mark caused by a cigarette, which has not penetrated through to the other side. (Photographed)

There is a small area of rubbing on the front bottom corner, but no rubbing elsewhere. Because of the thinness of the cover there is evidence of ring wear, but this has not penetrated through. There is no laminate lifting on the front of the cover. Because of the small tears and one mark, I am grading the front cover in VG condition. The spine is in excellent condition, with all text readable and without wear.

The rear laminated cover is in excellent condition, again with some ring wear, but no tears or scuffs. The two flip backs are intact, with a little lifting. All text is clearly readable on the reverse. There is no writing or stickers anywhere on the cover. The reverse side I am grading in Excellent condition, along with the spine.

THE SLEEVE:

The thick poly inner (Brit pat applied for) sleeve is in excellent condition, with just another and different small cigarette mark on one side which has not burnt through, and is without tears, writing or any other stains. The sleeve is still incredibly white and clean.

THE LABELS:

The RT tax code labels are in excellent condition, with one or two minor spindle marks and with no writing, labels, scuffs or tears!

THE RECORD:

The record is in excellent condition and lies flat, without warps, or deep scratches. There are a few surface scuffs, but these do not penetrate into the grooves.  Both sides retain a beautiful glossy appearance. Side 1, Track 2 has a small heat pressing bubble fault which is duplicated on the corresponding track on Side 2 and does not in any way affect the playing condition. On some tracks, you can clearly hear the ‘echo’ before the song actually begins!

I have played both sides through headphones at a very high volume!

SIDE 1. Run In = Crackly at first, but this disappears before the track starts.

Track 1: Has the occasional pop at the very beginning, but disappears quickly and the song plays without distortion.

Track 2: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 3: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 4: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 5: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 6: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

SIDE 2: Run in: Near silent

Track 1: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 2: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 3: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

Track 4: Nice clean intro. This plays without any distortion or loud background noise.

To summarise, this is one of the finest examples of this 53 year old and Elvis's first ever UK LP release! This has really stood the test of time and is in remarkable condition. I doubt that this reord has been played more than three or four times since it was released and another one in this condition would probably never come up for auction, but remain firmly in the hands of a collector.

 UK RARE RECORD GRADING CRITERIA

Mint:

The cover shows no obvious handling stains; edge and or ring wear, tears, creases, writing or stickers. The cover may be still sealed.

The labels have no obvious signs of spindle marks, stickers or scuffs.

The record is in as mint as possible to find. There are no scratches or scuffs, except for wispy hairlines. The record might not be played.

The inner or poster does not have any creases, tears, writing or stickers.

Excellent:

The cover may have some minor handling marks and a little corner and or edge wear and perhaps some small creases, but no writing or stickers except from where the record was bought or imported.

The labels may have one or two spindle marks, but no stickers, writing or heavy scuffs.

The record may have some small insignificant marks, which would not affect the playing quality.

The inner or poster may have some small creases, but no tears, writing or stickers.

 Very Good:

The cover may have some obvious handling marks and or edge and corner wear and some creases and perhaps some minor writing and a sticker, but no tears.

The labels may have some obvious spindle marks and perhaps some writing or stickers.

The record will have some obvious marks or scuffs which may affect the playing quality, but without a skip or a stick. 

The inner or poster may have some creases, a small tear, and or some writing or stickers.

 Good:

The cover may have obvious handling marks and or edge and ring wear and perhaps a tear, and or some writing and obvious creases.

The labels will show signs that the record has been played and may have some writing or a sticker and some scuffing.

The record has obvious scratches or scuffs and will produce background noise, but without a skip or a stick. 

The inner or poster may have creases, some tears, and or writing or stickers.

 Your record will be put in a new 12” white paper sleeve, then in a plastic wallet and sandwiched between stiffeners and posted in a cruciform box.
