ELVIS PRESLEY "THE WONDERFUL WORLD OF CHRISTMAS" 1971 original U.S. stereo LP (RCA) LSP-4579 VG+/M-. The second Christmas album by Elvis featuring "Merry Christmas Baby". Complete with the rare 5"x 7" color bonus postcard available only in early pressings plus the custom inner sleeve depicting Elvis' RCA Camden LPs & reel to reel tapes.
Elvis Presley had recorded the highly successful "Elvis' Christmas Album" back in 1957. It was released in many different editions & had proven to be one of his biggest sellers over the years. By 1971, the Colonel & the powers that be at RCA decided it was time to re-create the magic. The formula was much the same- combining seasonal hymns "O Come All Ye Faithful" & "The First Noel with non-secular standards like "Winter Wonderland" & "Silver Bells" mixed with the new Christmas songs such as "On A Snowy Christmas Day", "If I Get Home On Christmas Day" & the title track. Long-time Memphis Mafia bodyguard turned songwriter Red West got into the act composing "Holly Leaves & Christmas Trees". But undoubtedly the highlight of this set is the 5:45 down 'n' dirty take of Charles Brown's "Merry Christmas Baby" with great guitar work from James Burton & some of Elvis best rhythm & blues singing since his days at Sun. While not as strong as the 1957 LP, "The Wonderful World of Christmas" is an essential example of Elvis' 1970s work & his version of "Merry Christmas Baby" is not to be missed. The unique feature of this LP is the inclusion of the 5" x 7" color bonus postcard that was available only in early pressings. It is a picture depicting Elvis in concert in Las Vegas wearing one of his famous jumpsuits. There is a facsimile signature on the postcard stating "Seasons Greetings, Elvis".

Cover is intact w/no tears or split seams. It has light shelf & edge wear plus a slight "ding" in the upper right corner but still looks very good. Original 1971 "Dynaflex" pressing w/orange RCA labels has no scratches or scuffs & plays fine. Complete w/rare original 5" x 7" color bonus postcard depicting Elvis in concert. The postcard is M- w/only a minuscule indentation on the right side from storage. It was available on with a few early pressings in 1971. LP is housed in a custom inner sleeve showing Elvis' reel to reel tape catalog (11 b&w minis) on one side w/his RCA Camden catalog (6 larger b&w minis) on the other side. It is also in M- condition.
