Description
ELP-Emerson Lake&Palmer 1st LP original german pressing from 1970 on the Pink Island label No.6339 026 with unique GATEFOLD COVER.It is only these first german pressings on the orig Pink Island label that have the open up gatefold cover with a great colour pic of the group covering the inner gatefold.Certainly through all the European/USA/Japan pressings I have yet to come across another with this gatefold 1st LP.
Condition is excellent throughout. The cover has the beginnings of ringwear on the front and moreso on the rear but is otherwise clean with the inner gatefold perfect. The disc is totallyclean in normal light-under a lamp there are a few minor marks but these can barely be seen let alone heard.
Overall grades at EX/EX-.
Apart from being an interesting collectors piece there are many younger music lovers who will not have heard of ELP or will think they are some overthe top pomp progrock band who were rubbish.Well they should listen to this album-one of the truly great rock debut LPs.Funny how Crimsons 1st LP is now regarded so great which for sure it is but this is the forgotten LP of the forgotten group.Put this on loud and go straight into The Barbarian through to Knife Edge for starters and I'm sure anyone will dig it.I was in Amsterdam on a University field trip in the early 70s and was lucky enough to see ELP in this huge old hangar place play a mega set to a sell out big crowd-they were top draw then deservedly so and I was glad to see many shows in those great years for them of 1970 to 74.Check the first 4 LPs out.
