ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK

“ENGELBERT KING OF HEARTS”

(REY DE CORAZON)

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original London “Full Frequency Range Recording” (ffrr) Records very first PROMOTIONAL High Fidelity Stereo press released by London Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1974 by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon, S.A. (Odeon Records, Chile), licensed from London Records Inc., USA, catalog number (S)LLC-38642, with hand etched matrix number XZAL-12201-D6 2 in Side A and XZAL-12301-D6 2 in Side B, with unusual bright red/silver London “ffrr” Records labels of the period, with big boxed London “ffrr” Records logo at top. Yes, Sirs, another FIND from Chile!!!

“Engelbert King Of Hearts” was originally released in 1973 in the UK and USA, and we had to wait until 1974 to see this album released here in Chile as part of the “Serie Popular” (in English, “Popular Series”) of Chilean Odeon Records and, like usual in the period, we got it with a UNIQUE COVER, made of two single pieces of thin cardboard for front and back covers, and kept all held for an outer plastic bag, which’s also part of the cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original UK artwork and design, with the only differences that in Chile the album is title is written in English, translated to Spanish, with London Records logo instead original UK “Decca” logo, at bottom left corner. Back cover also has the same original artwork and design, with album title written in English, translated to Spanish, with tracklist written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and play time of each song, with additional information about personnel and licenses, with London Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. In labels, the album title is written in Spanish only and tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and for Gordon Mills as producer, with additional information about licenses. Some facts to notice about this Chilean album is that it corresponds to the US version, with only 10 songs (the song “Will You Be Here When I Wake Up In The Morning” is omitted). If you know Spanish, then could have already noticed that Spanish translation of “King Of Hearts” is wrong, “Rey De Corazón” is the Spanish translation of “King Of HEART”, “hearts” in Spanish is “CORAZONES”. The song “Do I Love You”, correctly written in label, it’s misspelled “Do I Love You?” in back cover, with extra “?” and the credits for songwriters of the song, include the name “Govic” as co-author, just like in the US version, in the UK version they wrote “Le Govic”, both names for French singer Alain Legovic (or Le Govic), also known as Alain Chamfort. In front cover, floating between the plastic and the cardboard is a white boxed paper with the cash price, “E° 1.100” and the information this album is part of the “Serie Popular”. And, in both labels, it’s the Promo squared stamp “MUESTRA SIN VALOR COMERCIAL” (in English, “Sample Without Commercial Value”). So, here you have the chance to get and own this classic album by Engelbert Humperdinck, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER and with Spanish-written album and song titles, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time. WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Pop and Traditional/Vocal Easy Listening music of the ‘70’s and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Engelbert Humperdinck!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or even EX+ condition, clean and clear, with only minimal wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with some very faint creases, without marks of any kind, the light ring marks you can see in pictures are in the plastic bag, not on the cardboards. The outer plastic bag is in EX- or even EX condition, with some little rips, where they original owner ripped the seal to remove the record, a bit dirty in edges, but clean and with all seams intact, it has protected the fragile papers very well. The record is in strong EX or even EX+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with some very soft scuffs and light hairlines, mostly hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. The labels are in great NM or even NM+ condition both sides, clean and clear, with not even minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong EX or even EX+ both sides, loud, clean and clear, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in most of records pressed in Chile), with some occasional and mostly barely audible soft crackles and light clicks here and there, more evident in some silent parts and between tracks, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to end. Overall, this is a great record by Engelbert Humperdinck in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with UNIQUE COVER, with RED LABELS, with Spanish-written album and song titles, COMPLETE WITH THE OUTER PLASTIC BAG and PROMOTIONAL, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still in a great condition, with a very nice cover and with the record still glossy, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 51 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press!!! And keep in mind this is the authentical very first Chilean press!!! What a find!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (September 2024)

Because the UK’s tax authority, Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC), requires eBay collect VAT information from sellers with UK customers, I’ve been informed that I need to have a “valid UK VAT number on file” to sell to UK customers. As I live in Chile and all my items are shipped from Chile, I don’t have an “UK VAT number”, so I’m sorry to inform that I’M FORCED TO EXCLUDE THE UK FROM MY WORLDWIDE SHIPPING POLICY. If you live in the UK and you’d like to bid/buy some of my records, please contact me, I’m sure we could find some solution.

If you have some doubt or question, feel free to contact us, we will be glad to answer all that you want to know about this item.
