Amazing !!! An unbelievable piece: What we have here is an unheard-of TEST PRESSING of this classic album. While many test pressings often have alternate or demo- versions of known, later released songs, and while it is possible that this particular test pressing contains demo or alternate versions of some of the tracks, please don’t take our word that it does: unfortunately, we are not familiar with the entire album (we know only a few songs) and we regret  we cannot provide any competent information on how different this TEST PRESSING may be from the official release. Please contact us if you have any questions. The generic white test pressing label is (almost) entirely blank and without any details whatsoever.

The album comes with the neatly typewritten album data sheet (which also serves as a revision log) which contains all the details of the test pressing, including artist name, producer name, song titles, timings, assigned catalog number, scheduled date of release, list of revisions made thus far, performer credits, etc. However the generic test pressing label is entirely blank and without any details whatsoever.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS TEST PRESSING APPARENTLY NEVER HAD A CUSTOM COVER;  THE ALBUM WILL BE SHIPPED IN A PLAIN, GENERIC [WHITE] CARDBOARD COVER. . TEST PRESSINGS ARE RARELY – IF EVER – FOUND IN CUSTOM (STOCK) COVERS.

You may never be able to hear Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton dueling in the studio, but this gorgeous 1970 album is as close as it gets: on it, you will find Duane Allman and Eric Clapton exchanging axe licks and blows like there`s no tomorrow (and covering at least one classic Hendrix tune in the process). To these ears, Duane comes out a winner, by a thread.  But then, we`ve never heard a Duane Allman solo we didn`t like, and we are hardly impartial. As far as we are concerned, Duane Allman was the one and only, true (guitar) God.

For its extraordinary contribution to the modern music, superb production, craftsmanship, fine musicianship,  revolutionary significance and influence it exerted on numerous generations of musicians, writers and general public, this album was voted one of top-200 albums of all time in one of the largest poll of critics, music reviewers, professionals and producers ever organized: the poll, which was conducted by Paul Gambaccini, legendary BBC Radio A&R man, surveyed more than 50 top music professionals (including Roy Carr, Jonathan Cott, Robert Christgau, Cameron Crowe, Chet Flippo, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie Gillett, Greil Marcus, Murray the K., Lenny Kaye, Bruce Morrow (a/k/a "Cousin Brucie"), Tim Rice (of "Jesus Christ Superstar" and "Evita" fame), Lisa Robinson, Robert Shelton (who wrote liner notes for Bob Dylan's first album), Ed Ward, Joel Whitburn, Pete Wingfield, etc.). (a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS EXCELLENT. This is one of those albums that are somewhat difficult to grade. It is somewhere between VG++ and NEAR MINT, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions ARE visible, but they are extremely shallow, superficial  and only moderately visually distracting (nothing significant).For the most part, the vinyl looks impeccable without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           Stock (commercially released) mono copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)           COVER : This reference pressing comes without its custom jacket, and will be shipped in a plain, generic, white cardboard cover (NOT SEPARATELY GRADED, BUT IN DECENT CONDITION OVERALL; VISIBLE WRITING NOTED ON BOTH SIDES -- PLEASE SEE  THE ATTACHED IMAGES).
