DR. ANN DAVIES & THE BUILDERS OF THE ADYTUM CHOIR -- An Esoteric Qabalistic Service - Temple of Tarot & Holy Qabalah -- hard to find, original 1974 U.S. album. For Outsider Music and Acid & Psych fans, this is an extremely far-out private press LP mixing mystical sermons by Dr. Ann Davies w/ some really eerie occult music/chanting performed by the BOTA Choir w/ doom-laden organ. Sample lyrics: "I AM, without beginning, without end/I am the Life, and the Wheel of the Law/I am the virgin snow on mountain heights ..."; "Time was when you and you and I/Walked wond'ring 'neath an ancient sky ... We wept. Ah death! Is this the end?/Here! Take my hand. No need to cry ..." Somewhat amazingly, this whole thing was produced by the legendary Gary Usher (Brian Wilson, The Byrds, Sagittarius etc.), who also created the very Led Zeppelin-esque cover artwork of a mystical hermit holding a lantern ... About as weird as it gets, and very entertaining if you're into really oddball Outsider Music/Real People kinda stuff. Gatefold cover: VG+, ring wear and wear at corners, light age stains on front white border. Record: VG+++, light surface wear from storage in sleeve, overall excellent, on orange B.O.T.A. private press label, U.S. pressing.
