Description
This is the earliest recording of black African performers, recorded in London in 1905 by a troupe of African Pygmies who toured Britain and Europe. The label shows that the singers on this recording are Matuka and Bokani (The Chief). The record is labelled 'Folk Songs of the Pygmies' and their singing is accompanied by drumming. The record is announced in English and states that it was made in London on August 25th 1905. The issue is single-sided Gramophone & Typewriter Gramophone Concert Record GC-14196.
