Description

Syd Roy's Lyricals play a spirited rendition of "Baltimore" (take 1 -- the hottest issued take) and "Why Did You Say" (a waltz) on Imperial 1835.  Bixian trumpeter Jack Jackson is heard repeatedly on "Baltimore," from an opening two-bar break, a four-bar break modulating into the second chorus, sixteen bars and eight bars improvising over the final ensemble, and a four-bar break to conclude the record.  There is a Trumbauer-ish sax solo as well.  
Recorded in London on December 5, 1927.  This loud record is in VV+ condition, with gouges around the spindle hole on both sides, needle runs on both labels, gouges in the deadwax not affecting the music, and an edge chip not to the grooves on the waltz side.  The record isn't pretty, but it plays well and the music is great.  Both sides are pressed slightly off-center, but not enough to detract from the music.
