Description
This is a rare first pressing of The Eurythmics debut album 'In the Garden' on vinyl - RCA Records RCALP 5061. It has a misprint on the 'Side A' label as the producer is credited as 'Conny Plonk' and not 'Conny Plank'.
The front cover is HAND SIGNED by both Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart in blue biro. She has signed it on the picture of her arm, and he has signed it by his photo on the forehead. Both signatures are clear and not smudged or damaged in any way. Please see the detailed images.
This must be a promotional copy as the bottom left corner of the front cover has a sticker from 'Rime Enterprises', who I think were the distributers.
The album cover and inner sleeve are in good / very good condition with a small break on the bottom and a tiny tear by the 's' of Eurythmics.
The vinyl also appears to be in good (poss very good) condition with no obvious marks or scratches. The run out is A 1-U and B 1-U.
Please note that I am not a dealer or a record collector. The items I am selling are all from the extensive collection of my late brother.
He was a great music and radio enthusiast, working for both BBC and commercial radio stations in the East Midlands from 1980 until 2013 presenting various music shows, mostly folk and rock.
Most of this time he was the producer and presenter of the nightly rock programme on Radio Trent in Nottingham (which, from 1984 was also broadcast on Leicester Sound and the in Derby from 1988).
During this period he interviewed many bands and artists in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and usually had them sign copies of the albums they were promoting at the time. He was also sent many promotional, DJ-only and white-label pressings direct from the record companies.
He interviewed The Eurythmics before their gig in Leicester in a strange venue which was a converted car showroom. It was one of their first gigs as The Eurythmics and attracted a very small audience - I was with my brother at the gig and I reckon there were only about another 30-or-so lost souls there that night.
My brother was a hoarder/collector and kept everything he'd had signed or rarities - hence this item.
Sadly my brother passed away in November 2013, so I am slowly disposing of his extensive record collection. He had no family of his own, so according to his wishes we have opened a trust account to help his nephew and two nieces through university, and the proceeds from these sales will be paid into that account.
Over the last year I have already listed similar items such as original signed albums by artists ranging from The Ramones to Bryan Ferry and Sandy Denny, plus some rarities and DJ-only promotional copies. There are still many more for me to get through, so I will regularly be listing new items.
All vinyl will be sent in special secure mailers with stiffeners.
Thank you.
