TAMARINDO / SHABALI SHABALA ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by EVELYNE HANACK. Original Italian pressing on REAL MUSIC label (REAN 14017), from 1977. Strangely compulsive latin disco / space funk double-sider by the mysterious B-movie actress who was the lead dancer in Luigi Petrini's White Pop Jesus (the film with the Franco Bixio - Vince Tempera score). Yes, her vocals are slightly off-key during the 2 dodgy chorus parts of TAMARINDO but she's still spellbinding and the equally sleazy studio group backing her, are surprisingly good. The bass player sounds like the guy on the Billy Woost Lp / funky clavinet motifs a la Oxid Bright Heron / bugged-out electronics / progressive and proto house drum skills and Meditteranean cum middle eastern folk influences all mixed together to showcase Hanack's unique brand of disco music. TAMARINDO is the side with the anthemic vocal hooks / skank guitar rhythms and cool montuno latin breaks midway. Some of you will recognise this infectious oddity from the Charles Bals Parasol Island mix Beachfreaks 3. This track was also written by Pegaso Library composer, Natale Massara. For us though, the SHABALI SHABALA side is even better. A strung-out and stoned arrangement with hard drum breakdowns / congas and slow groove cum space funk ambience that turns all heady and psychedelic with synth breaks and trance inducing vocal chants. Great for DJs with booming production sound. Our soundclip opens with a catchy, proto latin house style sample from TAMARINDO followed by SHABALI SHABALA then the full TAMARINDO theme. This single is really nice shape for an item that is usually, always quite trashed :) Striking sleeve artwork showing Evelyn in the sea. Rare 45!!!  

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) regardless of a few hairlines / faint scuffs from storage. Some old, tiny marks from the original pressing process. Some light surface noises but most probably due to the actual pressing. Booming production sound. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. The soft card picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) regardless of the ring creasing / ring dirt marks and light corner wear in places from storage. A couple of tiny dents to upper spine edge. Rare 45!!!
