This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

 Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

Mothers/Stampers Side 1: 2 @ 12 O'clock    OL @ 6 O'clock

(Pretty unusual to have the SAME Stampers AND Mothers for each side!)

This pressing is one of the first 8th presses, making the transition from the Yellow Parlophone labels in 1969. The format wasn't liked, with just the one EMI box and was quickly withdrawn, only to be re-relaesed as the 9th press, but this time with the more common 2 box EMI label. Not many of these 1 box EMI labels made it through the net....and hard to find in this condition!

There quite few light marks to the record, saying that-with nothing at all to affect the play. I am just listening to the vinyl right now, with headphones on and turned right up....WOW....takes you right back to the magical 60's FAB!!! The Beatles in all their original glory.
A little dust-so a light clean will make her sound EVEN BETTER!

Labels: EX. There is hardly any central hole wear as seen in the pictures, just a couple of very light spindle trails, visible only when angled to the light. They really stand out nice and clean, with no writing or anything to detract from it's gorgeousness.
To be ultra critical there are a couple of light blooms to each side-that really is it!

 Outer rim text starts with "The Gramophone Co.Ltd" with no "Recording First Published" text. The later labels had the outer rim text stating an "EMI recording..."


Cover: EX-. There is only light wear to this cover!
 It is a genuine Garrod and Lofthouse cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front.
Rounded corner flipbacks.
The bit that stands out, for me, is that it IS THE ORIGINAL RECORD COVER FOR THIS RECORD, as it doesn't have the 'STEREO' in the top right corner, BUT DOES have the Stereo catalogue number in the top right corner on the back card....THIS COVER HAS NOT BEEN SWAPPED OUT...IT IS GENUINE!!!! So many you see for sale have been chaged.
Some spidering to the laminate.
STRONG and LEGIBLE spine.

The Inner: EX! EMI Sepia advertising inner in FAB condition! Adverts for Let It Be Box Set (PXS 1), Ringo's & McCartney's Lps plus Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper.
Stronger and thicker paper sleeve with just minimal wear....LOVELY!

A REAL COLLECTORS ITEM IN SUPER CONDITION
NOT MANY OF THESE PRESSINGS WERE PRODUCED AND WERE ARGUABLY SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE BLACK AND GOLD LABEL!
