Here may be the rarest RAREST 1964 "Meet the Beatles" album ever offered up for auction! YES! Even rarer that the multitudes of pressings of their infamous "Yesterday and Today" Butcher cover! An AUTHENTIC FACTORY ERROR 1st pressing of "Meet the Beatles" with an upside down front slick on the jacket. Released1964 by Capitol records T-2047 MONO. One can only surmise the circumstances that resulted in this oddity. Was it first off the presses when workers noticed the error? Was it retrieved from the capitol dumpster or tucked under the arm of an employee back in 1964? I don't know but you can see by the photos it was not something that was manufactured later but an authentic factory error from the first pressing in 1964. There are no tell tale signs that anyone has EVER removed and replaced the slick at all. This slick has certainly NEVER been removed! On the other hand there may be signs that it had trouble going through the Capitol factory machinery. There are two small tears along rear cover at center of record opening that are not in the standard place for regular wear. There is also is some damage to one corner where the blue MEET THE is printed. This damage may also have resulted from a Capitol machinery jam. The Beatles photo is in great shape.The jacket overall rates VG due to damage noted. The upper and lower seam are completely intact with no splits.The binder has just started to split on one end. The MEET THE BEATLES text on spline is is great shape and very readable. There are some light creases in the two lower corners as well as a light crease that runs between John and George. The rear cover is in great shape and has a number 3 in the corner. The record Rates VG+/EX. Plays great with very good sound quality, is beautiful and glossy! Has only a few faint marks on both sides, has been PLAY TESTED. Plays GREAT from start to finish with very good sound quality! Includes a vintage blue Capitol inner sleeve.
