Description

EX/EX,Tommy James and the Shondells, “Cellophane Symphony”,12”LP, 1969, Stereo, Roulette, RS-42030 1st Edition, pressed in the USA. This great original example, little played and offering superb sound throughout, is one to please most collectors who simply want to treasure the analogue experience of this 1960s classic.

“Cellophane Symphony was unexpected and shocking to many TJ&S fans. It was a bold step forward for a group that had recently crossed over from AM Top-40 to FM radio and. Before the dust settled, became one of their most highly acclaimed.”

“Few rock and roll groups have ever been adventurous enough to open an album of catchy, psychedelic rock and roll with a droning, ten minute space rock instrumental, especially when you keep in mind the percentage of kids buying this record after hearing lightweight hits like “Hanky Panky” over the waves and hoping for more of the same.”

The distinctive Roulette Orange & Yellow “Dartboard” design label,    is in pristine condition on both sides with the base color extends into the unworn spindle hole and the black type is still perfectly crisp and readable in Mint condition. We purchased all of our vintage LPs new and always kept them in a climate controlled, smoke-free environment and were mostly handled and played by only knowledgeable, mature, and careful individuals.

The EX vinyl is pristine and gleams like a brand new album and the stereo sound quality is as clear as a bell. There are no scratches or scuffs on Side-2 but Side-1 has several causing some faint crackle. This LP still plays through all the tracks with a perfect sound quality: no pops, sticking, jumps, but with some detectable crackle. The sound quality is simply great with no distortion and no groove wear, with only superb, clear and precise audio. It comes in its original label cut-out plain white inner sleeve.

The 1969 original, unlaminated, semi-gloss cover is sturdy, clean, fresh and still lustrous and intact condition, with songs listing and credits on the back side and is still distinctly solid and crisp after 47 years of gentle aging and wear. Both sides are in EX brilliant condition with minor creases and edge rubbing on the front and back sides, normal spinal wear all around the edges, but no rips, tears, splits, and only some shelf-wear corner folds and scuffs, but still very flat looking. The opening edge is beautifully straight with barely any feathering.

I use special made, secure record mailers and always ship vinyl outside of the jacket to prevent seam splits.
