Ultra Mega Rare MONO Beatles PROMO VJ 1-903 EP White Label with Blue cross bars. These rare issues are almost impossible to find now in this great condition ! The labels are NM stunning with No writing, No names, No stickers/glue residue, No tears, No rips ! The VG/EX record shows minor play, as most of these promotional issues were played to death at the height of Beatlemania !!

It comes with the original correct VJ 'Singles of Significance' red sleeve. This one has the much wider thumb tab at the top center, compared to the more common smaller thumb tab opening !! No splits, No writing, No tears, No stickers or glue residue on the sleeve, graded at EX/NM !!

With The Beatles February '64 arrival in America, and their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show fresh in everyone's mind, Vee Jays extended play (EP) release was marketed as a 'Souvenir of Their Visit to America'. Trade magazine ads proclaimed "Four great songs never released as singles. Each a hit in it's own right. This record was dubbed 'The EP of the Century' !!

Two of the sings on this EP, 'Anna' and 'Ask Me Why' were paired on what has become one of the rarest U.S. Beatles records.The Styrene disc was manufactured by Monarch Records. Interesting enough, the two song credits were labeled as McCartney-Lennon, which was before they were credited as Lennon-McCartney, which we have all be more accustomed to over all these years !!

This label variation is the very first issue of the PROMO EP, where ALL FOUR songs are in the same size print. (VJEP903.DJ1, SPIZER). This disc was manufactured by Monarch Records and were distributed without any cardboard sleeve/jackets !

This is the very first of two promo pressings with 'Ask Me Why' on 2 lines and the same font size as the others, and not larger !!

The first pressings: have blue bracket logos and the words "PROMOTIONAL COPY" in blue below the logos on the left and right sides of the center hole and black print above and below the center hole. Side-2 title "Ask Me Why" is on 2 lines.

The second pressing is similar to the first issue with "PROMOTIONAL COPY" appearing in blue below the blue brackets logos on the left and right sides of the center hole and black print above and below the center hole. There are two variations.
Type-1: lists "Side I" and "Side II" and has "ASK ME WHY" in much larger and bolder print than the other titles.
Type-2: lists "Side 1" and "Side 2" and has "ASK ME WHY" in much larger and bolder print than the other titles.
These promos were most often issued without covers. This is a Monarch Pressing as noted by △51772 This Promo Copy is accompanied by it's original 1964 Vee-Jay 'Right Bracket' Generic Red and Black sleeve VJ RS. These PROMOTIONAL COPIES were issued primarily to radio stations for heavy airplay, and most surviving copies of these special issued discs have been treated to a major wealth of play. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
