HISTORICAL REFERENCE SPECIFICS:

Eagles is the debut album by the rock band of the same name, released in 1972.The album was recorded at London's Olympic Studios with producer Glyn Johns. The album was an immediate success for the young band reaching #22 on the charts and going platinum. The album also released three Top 40 singles with "Take it Easy", "Witchy Woman", and "Peaceful Easy Feeling". The three singles reached #12, #9, and #22 respectively. The album played a major role in popularizing the southern California country rock sound. In 2003, the album was ranked number 374 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. This album was slated for Quadraphonic release and even given a Quadraphonic catalog number but it was never released in the format.

These white label Aslylum LPs are the only recordings of this album that were made from the original master tapes.  The masters were lost shortly thereafter and have never been found.  They are lost to time and so is the tubey sound this lp has.  I'm telling you folks - this copy is incredible!  It will blow you away if played on good equipment!

This is what Tom Port at Better Records has to say about this lp:

"There's an interesting story behind this album, which I won't belabor here. One listen and you'll know I speak the truth when I say that the tape used to cut this pressing was never used again to cut any other. It is GONE. LOST FOREVER. All reissues of this album are mediocre at best, and positively painful to listen to once you've heard the right original pressing, the one cut from the real tape. They were recorded brilliantly. Glyn Johns, the recording engineer, is a GENIUS. The sound is rich, sweet and tubey as anything you have ever heard. I would say it's as good a rock studio recording as any I have ever heard, and better than 99.99% of the competition."

RECORD:

The record is a gorgeous and glossy NM on the vinyl and has NM labels too!  It's about as nice of a copy you will find without finding one sealed.

COVER:

Cover is NM - with just light edgewear.  No splits or creasing.  No ringwear or writing.  Includes original desert scene inner sleeve.  A stellar copy!
