Description
Ed Askew 'Ask The Unicorn' 1969 ESP-Disk LP
Rare opportunity to acquire the debut LP by New York painter/singer Ed Askew, still in its (opened) shrinkwrap. Bought in 1981 from an Arizona Salvation Army shop for 50 cents by current owner Julian Cope, this record had by that time already travelled to the UK as an export only to be returned to America as a non-Cut Out. The shrinkwrap has therefore taken all the wear that the cover normally would have experienced! Thus, despite being battered, it remains and still it protects! The record itself has just been played through and sounds mostly silent save for Ed's plaintiff wail. There are, however, a couple of pops and clicks here and there. But the record is a clean bright recording and eminently listenable. Finally, those who call this Ed Askew debut by the title 'Ask The Unicorn' will see no note of it printed anywhere herein – the final song has that title, no more. Many thanks for looking.
