I think I heard Eddie Bo's "Dinky Doo" back in about 1992. Seems every record I managed to dig up of his from then on just blew me away. This ones no exception. Lover And A Friend, for what is essentially a soul duet with Inez Cheatham, just sounds raucous and tough. In no small part to the drums but also the seemingly loose arrangement of the vocals. It starts out with an epic drum break which goes on to pretty much dominate the whole track. A must have for any Bo fan. From 1967/8 this is the Capital (national) release. It was also released locally (New Orleans) on the Seven B label. This copy is really clean. Very few faint marks and plays extremely crisp.
Lot's more soul and deep funk 7's to be listed in the next couple of weeks!
