Eddie Cochran LP Singin to my Baby London HA-2093
This is his first original LP on the London label and rarely found. I purchased this shortly after it was released and have not played it for about 50 years - hence the decision to sell. I am not an expert so will try to describe it as well as possible so that you can judge the condition. The shadows on some of the photos are my reflection as I took the photo!
The cover I should say is very good. There are no tears. The front is of course a very dark colour and there are 7 or 8 dots of white showing on the edges. the open edge shows a faint line of white along about 2/3rds of its length but it is hardly noticeable. The open edge is hardly splayed out at all. You can see the imprint of the disc rim and the centre on the front of the dark cover but this is not apparent on the reverse. See photo.The reverse is clear and bright with some laminate lift along the open edge for about 15cms - see photo. There is what I think might be a date on the bottom right hand flap CP.58.2 which perhaps means it was issued in February 1958?The cover has been protected during the whole time I have had it by a clear polythene outer cover which is still on it.
The inner sleeve is good thick paper and is pretty near immaculate with the inner polythene lining still firmly in place.
The disc itself is thick quality plastic with no scratches that I can see but there are some marks across tracks 1,2 & 3 on side 1 which I have tried to show on the photo. I have played the record on my dansette which is not a very sophisticated piece of equipment and all I can hear are 3 light clicks at the very end of the first track. Otherwise the disc plays perfectly. I don't know what caused the marks but maybe an expert can get them off. I haven't liked to touch them for fear of causing damage.
The matrix numbers are AXL768-1B and 7691B which I think means a first pressing. Interestingly, the X on side 1 looks like it was originally a V but has been gone over with an X. Other marks on the centre are, at 12 o'clock what looks like RT, 9 o'clock 1 and 3 o'clock C on both sides but I dont know what this means, if anything. The spindle hole is barely worn.
I think this is a lovely record, carefully looked after and well worth the money. Questions welcome. Overseas bidders welcome but there is additional postage cost..
