Payment | Shipping Edison 82049 Ellen Beach Yaw-The Skylark great soprano!
Wow, this old girl could sing! Soprano Ellen Beach Yaw does her own composition entitled "The Skylark" on Diamond Disc Edison 82049. This was recorded on November 5, 1913.
Yaw was reportedly the only known soprano of her era who could sing and sustain the D above high D. She was also able to trill in major thirds or fifths (trills usually involve rapidly alternating notes over an interval of a minor or major second).
On the blank label reverse, there is an "Explanatory Talk" pertaining to Yaw.
The record is in excellent (E) condition, and is in the original #82049 Edison sleeve (torn and taped).
