1933-1936 issue; recorded at No.3 Studio, Abbey Road, London, between April 28, 1933 and June 4, 1936.

These records cover a great many but not all of the 48 works that make up the Well-Tempered Klavier. An incomplete but magnificent dozen records.

"I have alluded before to the musicianly and authoritative way in which Edwin Fischer fullfils his great task. A cautious and most skillful use of the sustaining pedal resulting in part playing of exquisite clarity is a notable feature of his performance. (We humble spirits fly to that pedal all too often to cover up the jerkiness of our skips and jumps.) It follows that his line-drawing and phrasing are a constant source of joy.

But Fischer's greatness as an artist consists not in this or that point of technique things one takes for granted in one of his stature—but in his power to see each work as a whole, and so to present it thought out from first note to last with all its parts resolved into unity.

One could write on for ever about this glorious music, but I hope I have said enough to make my readers eager to possess these records.. The recording is splendid throughout."
