Description
Signed photo of the American soprano Eleanor Steber.
Inscribed (to the mother of the conductor Max Reiter) "To a very sweet and lovely lady, Guilia Reiter, with every good wish for the best always, Eleanor Steber 1942."
Eleanor Steber (1914-1990) was a American opera singer.
She sang at the Metropolitan Opera from 1940 to 1961, a career chiefly distinguished for the high-lying soprano roles of Strauss and Mozart heroines as well. She was quite versatile, singing Wagner, Berg, some French opera, the world premiere of the American opera Vanessa by Samuel Barber and a number of Metropolitan Opera premieres, including Strauss’s Arabella, Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio, and Berg's Wozzeck.
Approximately 25 x 20 cm. A lovely item in good condition.
