Description
Mosaic's 3LP set brings together two titles, "Soul Call", and "Ella and Duke at the Cote D' Azur", both recorded over the last weekend of July 1966 on the French Riviera. Tape transfers and mastering done by Malcolm Addey and Kevin Grey, the entire weekend's festivities were recorded live to two-track stereo. The format changes from orchestra, to trio, to Duke's smaller band groupings, Ella being at the top of her game throughout. Highlights include "Mack the Knife" with scatting, "It don't mean a thing". "Misty", "Lullaby of Birdland", "Jazz Samba", "Goin out of my Head" ,and many many more. For fans of Jazz and Swing, Duke and Ella, this final meeting between these two legendary figures is a must have. This set was opened, records cleaned on my VPI cleaning machine, played once. Stored in a glass case in my listening room. Non-Smoking house, my dogs are not allowed in this room. As always, Thank you for your interest, and time. Arthur
