Description
Verve Records MG 4010-4 (on outer box) - A panoramic true high fidelity record -4 Records in 2 double cardboard albums in a box. My husband and I purchased this set at the estate sale of a newspaper photographer who had lots of celebrity 'stuff'. I think it was in the '90s but not sure. I remember purchasing a Coca Cola bag full of flashbulbs! And some original celebrity photos.
I imagine this album was a gift to him from the musicians whose signatures appear on the insert booklet. I really can't make out the names but have given you several pics so that you can. I'm not sure but I think Frank Madson was the photographer. That signature also appears with the musicians.
There is a clipping dated May 12, 1970, reporting the death of saxophonist, Johnny Hodges, in the box too.
Condition: I don't think these 4 records have ever been played. I took one of them out of the paper cover to photograph it for this auction. I noticed that it has "MGV - 4008 - 2 -A" and "50502" engraved in the center glossy ring. Tryed to picture, failed.
Outer box is broken, worn and has some spots (see pics). It is also a king of misprint. The pictures are blurry. (Bet you thought it was my picture.) The 2 Album Covers are excellent. Probably never been out of the box. The insert is also excellent. Records do no appear to have been played or been out of the wrapper for that matter.
