Elvis Costello "Our Aim Is True" – Rare Clear Vinyl Pressing – "Help Us Hype Elvis" Promotional-Style Sleeve

A note on authenticity: Discogs catalogs this pressing as an unofficial release — the vinyl label is a unique copy of a Stiff Records label design. It's a well-documented piece of Costello collector ephemera in its own right, assembled from early demo material (including at least one track later, from a 1978 John Peel session), not a modern reissue or fake. Listed accurately so you know exactly what you're getting.
A nice detail: The vinyl label credits "The Rumour" rather than Elvis Costello — Nick Lowe's backing band, who worked extensively with Lowe on Stiff-era sessions and side projects. It's a small window into how tangled and informal these early Costello-era recordings and their unofficial circulation really were.
Condition: Vinyl: VG+ (light surface wear consistent with age; a brief light "pop" on the first track of Side 2, otherwise plays clean start to finish — confirmed by a full listen). Sleeve: paper stock (not standard cardboard), light shelf/storage wear, fully intact.
Pressed on clear vinyl and packaged in the now-famous "HELP US HYPE ELVIS" novelty sleeve — a cult favorite among collectors of Costello ephemera and 1970s UK punk/new wave promotional oddities. Fourteen tracks of raw, early Costello; two (A7, B7) aren't even listed on the sleeve, adding to the scrapbook, of-its-moment charm of the whole object.
Provenance: In my collection since 1984, acquired from a CBS Records rep liquidating a large personal collection. Played fewer than 5 times between the two of us. Stored indoors, climate-controlled, smoke-free household.
