EXCELLENT PLAY COPY OF THE RARE HOLLYWOOD PRESSING ELVIS PRESLEY - A DATE WITH RCA LPM 2011 1959 1ST PRESSING HOLLYWOOD PRESS Matrix / Runout: K2PP-1148-3S H A Matrix / Runout: K2PP-1149-3S H A
Original 1959 gatefold issues had hype stickers affixed to jacket front proclaiming "Never Before On L.P." and all songs on the LP.
Disc: Long Play. Black label, All print on label print is silver. Camden N.J. on edge. Without "NEW ORTHOPHONIC" HIGH FIDELITY on right side. Side 1 Track 2 on two lines. Side 1 Track 4 and Track 5 on two lines. Side 2 Track 3 and Track 4 credit next to title, production spelled out. Side 2 Track 4, comma after M-G-M release.
Some incredible songs on this 1967 album from composer Reid King who married the Brazilian sound with
popular music of that era to produce an album that should have really taken off then, but due to the strange
setup of Canterbury Records who were in business to lose money for a Mattel tax shelter, the album was allowed
to die on the vine by Canterbury when it started to take off with airplay and sales. Reid King went on to become

VINYL IS VG PLUS, SOUNDS EXCELLENT, UNDER BRIGHT LIGHTS IT SHOWS LIGHT HAIRLINES AND SOME LIGHT SCRATCHES WITH NOTHING DEEP OR HARMFUL OVER THE HIGH GLOSS VINYL
PLAYS EXCELLENT! FULL DYNAMICS AND SUPER REPRODUCTION OF THE SUN STUDIO ECHO! THE "FAMOUS" SUN STUDIO LIGHT HISS IS HEARABLE ON SOME OF THE TRACKS AND THERE IS A LIGHT CRACKLE ON SOME TRACKS, AT NEEDLE DROP AND BETWEEN TRACKS - THIS IS A VERY NICE SOUNDING LP OVERALL AND WELL RECOMMENDED.
THE GATEFOLD JACKET IS VG++ A STANDARD HEAVYWEIGHT US CARDBOARD - CONDITION SHOWS A 6" SPLIT ON FRONT OF GATEFOLD WHICH IS EASILY FIXABLE! NO WRITING AND NO STICKERS BAR THE HYPE STICKER - SHOWS VERY LIGHT RING WEAR AND LIGHT NORMAL EDGE BUMPING - THE INSIDE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THE SPINE IS EXCELLENT, WITH VERY LIGHT NORMAL CORNER BUMPING
COVER HAS THE HANGING HOLE
INCLUDES ORIGINAL RCA INNER SLEEVE AND WILL BE HOUSED IN A WHITE PROTECTIVE SLEEVE

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY.
Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft. These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound. Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

How I Grade Condition Of Discs
Mint
This means I have owned it from new or purchased from a distributors warehouse, basically it means absolutely new shape, never been played or out of its dust cover. In the case of LP's, a North American album will have to be factory sealed (anyone can reseal an album!) Take Note: European and Japaneses albums were never shrink wrapped!
Note: Being mint does not guarantee it's free of pops and clicks, many pressings especially from the US were made with very poor vinyl and in a hurry which means often there are imperfections in the pressing. As a former importer, we were often given back brand new albums due to clicks heard in the playback.
Mint Minus - No such thing, it's either mint or not.
Excellent - A disc is super clean, with no visible marks
Excellent Plus, means it's probably mint but can't be proven by me.
Excellent minus, is a disc that is excellent except it may have some markings that do not show up in the playing
VG - A disc that is STILL in good shape, WILL have some scuffs or scratches, not in excellent shape but well worth owning. VG + and ++,a disc that is that much better than VG.
VG minus, just a smidgen below VG
