Description

WATCH FOR MY “ELVIS 75th BIRTHDAY” AUCTIONS! LISTINGS COMMENCE 12/31/2009!

Welcome

I have been collecting and selling mainly Elvis Records since 1978. My personal collection extends into the thousands and as such offers an amazing array of rarities a lot of which are in exceptional condition. For the first time ever, over the coming months I will be putting up some of these for auction, I am sure there will be something to interest every Elvis collector. With my extensive knowledge in the field I can offer you the best possible service, with items that will seldom need upgrading! I guarantee each item is exactly as described!

I will be pleased to offer advice, in complete confidence, on any matters relating to buying or selling in this auction. But please give me ample time to address each issue as correctly as I may.

Each lot is listed with a minimum opening bid. My minimum bid is conservative; all values are based on the latest edition of Presleyana VI, 2007. Most but not all lots will sell for a bid in excess of the minimum bid. I use conservative minimum bids to encourage participation and give everyone the chance to own some great Elvis records! The opening bid is also a reflection of the minimum I consider a fair price to win the item with. These records whether it be rarity or condition value are desirable, I won’t be giving them away! BID EARLY! - Avoid the last minute hysteria that seems to accompany all desirable Elvis records.

Supplementary: So it was early 1960 and Elvis had just been released from his two-year stint in the U.S. army. Within two weeks of his demob he was in RCA's Nashville Studios recording his first 45 and album. In April, the fruits of those sessions were released. Considered by many to be one of his best albums of all time, it's an awesome collection of songs and and touched base with most styles familiar to him at the time, Light Rock And Roll, Pop and a truly magnificent Blues outing in "Reconsider Baby."  What a way to commemorate this album, not quite in the same grading I gave the Monophonic copy I sold a couple of weeks a go, but this is still more than equal to most anything I have seen offered on Ebay!  I am being totally honest with you when I say that where there is ware anywhere to this cover, it only really storage and not misuse, see the pictures... they speak for themselves! I took a picture of the inside to show how clean it was.. I notice that there are a couple of "white" spots in the spine there, this is "Flashback" not a problem with the inner spine at all! The center fold, it's so tight, no marks at all! One extra added attraction to the cover is it's the much rarer one, with the disc itself "pouched" in the front "Elvis Is Back," in civilian clothes version, check your guides for this! Ok so the bottom line with this cover is, there is an acceptable amount of bumping on two of its corners, and a little whiting here and there, but I swear, this is a very nice copy of an impossible to find variation! If you have seen my other offerings you'll know I am fussy! While I was never 100% satisfied with this, it's more than a keeper! The record is the earliest Deep Groove, Silver Top, LIVING STEREO and it too is the cover's equal! Any marks on the labels, are slight around the spindle and are easy forgivable compared to the remaining surface area of the labels! The wax itself is so close to a N/M from me, but does have a few light scuffs, it's been well taken care of no doubt, just the passing of time have caused what little damage there is to be noticed! All in all this is still an incredible find! The likes of which are seldom seen anywhere in any condition! Bid well, even with the slight defects I note, another coming along in this condition will not be soon!! Good Luck!

GRADING

For simplicity I am using the same ten-point grading system found in Presleyana VI, and in-fact most other valuation guides. For the most part all of the records on auction, will be in the Excellent and above range, of course any falling below this standard will be so noted and described fully in its description.

Just to confirm then;

10: Mint. Cover is new, with no visible wear. Cover artwork appears new and bright. Sleeves will be free from all but the most miniscule printing / manufacturing flaws. Vinyl gloss should 100% full and blazing. The labels should show no wear and display perfectly.

9: Near-Mint. Cover appears new at first glance, any defects will be barely noticeable. Sharp corners and tight seams are expected. The vinyl has just a few very minor imperfections, will have almost full gloss, with next to no label wear. Record should play with next to no surface noise.

8: Excellent. Cover shows some very minor wear but no serious defects. There may be only light flaking allowed and corners will be relatively sharp. Some light ring-wear may be seen with close scrutiny. Vinyl has a few noticeable imperfections, nothing major. Vinyl will still display some gloss. May have slight label-wear, some slight label imperfections are allowed. The record may play with some very slight surface noise, but nothing distracting.

7: Very Good. Some moderate wear will be noticeable on artwork, but no serious problems there will be no major fraying and ring-wear may be more obvious, small tears are allowed, these will usually be at the opening. Vinyl has noticeable but no major imperfections. Should display some gloss. May have slight label-wear, some slight label imperfections are allowed. The record may play with some very slight surface noise, but nothing which impedes the sound.

You will see that on some of the rare items, I have listed the Near-Mint value within the description; this is taken directly from the “Presleyana VI” guide. It is there solely to save you the potential buyer the hassle of checking through the book at values and so that you may appreciate the very reasonable starting bid.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE

Please take just a few moments to read these brief details - it could save confusion later! If you have any questions, please contact me before you bid, doing so will constitute your acceptance of all terms listed.

Whether buying or selling on Ebay, we are all bound by its policies; I follow all rules laid out. For the most part the only confusion I have with buyers is regards shipping. Please note that due to Ebay policy I will not mail an item without tracking. No exceptions! Any person asking me to do this will immediately be referred to Ebay! I am very aware that the cost of tracking is annoying, but, remember doing so protects both you the buyer and me!

PAYMENT

Please DO NOT pay immediately after purchase – I will invoice you the correct amount within 48 hours of the auction end, thank-you. Payment must be received within 7 days of the auction close, unless arrangements are made in advance.

If you intend to bid on other items I have on offer during the coming week, please let me know so I don’t waste time weighing and re-sending invoices. And you reap the benefits of combined shipping – thank-you!

As the buyer, you are responsible for any insurance, duties or tax your country or third-parties may have!

SHIPPING

Please be aware this item is located in the United Kingdom.

I will endeavor to ship all items nationally or internationally, within 24 hours of receipt of payment. But please be aware that sometimes things occur beyond our control, and in which case 48 hours will be sufficient.

I do not falsify item values below sale price, or, mark items as “Gifts” on custom declaration forms. U.K. and international government regulations prohibit such behavior.

United Kingdom bidders please be aware that as Ebay now wish sellers to add the postage costs to the actual price of any item for sale, I only consider myself responsable for price of postage (Royal Mail Second Class) and price of recorded delivery (Tracking.)  Items with a higher value then £39.00 should be sent Special Delivery - this I consider the high bidder cost - to cover insurance. If you require insurance please notify me and I will send you an invoice with the correct postage.

I do combine, but please wait for me to send you an invoice, the Ebay tools are not reliable, should you pay in advance then I understand you are happy to accept paying for shipping separately.

A double album is classified as two single albums. A box set’s postage will be adjusted accordingly.

What follows is a table which indicates the postage you could expect to pay on any one item. Please be aware that this is only a guide – very close – but due to the nature of weights and item values, the final invoice may be a little more – or indeed less – than listed below.
