Elvis Presley HMV LP Rock n Roll CLP 1093 Fair to Good

 Hello there! Up for auction is an original copy of the Elvis album Rock 'n' Roll on HMV, catalogue number CLP 1093. Matrix numbers are 2XAV 255-1N and 2XAV 256-1N. The vinyl I will describe as Fair to Good by Record Collector criteria - Fair:  The record...has not been cared for properly...and may even jump / Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.
The vinyl has surface marks, scuffs and scratches but is not too bad. Let me elaborate with a track-by track description...

Track 1: This skips at the very start so, instead of "well it's-a one for the money...", it starts on "for the money". This track also skips slightly two more times during its entirety. Now for the good news - none of the other 11 tracks skip; in fact they play well with, at worst, only a few crackles and pops here and there.
Track 2: plays through fine
Track 3: there are some pops and crackles but it is a quiet ballad
Track 4: plays through fine
Track 5: plays through fine
Track 6: plays through fine but with a little mild distortion here and there
Track 7: plays through fine
Track 8: plays through fine
Track 9: plays through fine
Track 10: plays through fine
Track 11: plays through fine
Track 12: plays through fine

What I will say is that, overall, the sound of the album is a lovely wide and expansive one - full, dynamic and punchy. It is testament to the the quality of the music, musicians, the recording and the mastering.

The cover I will again describe as Fair by RC criteria: The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. There is a tear which has been repaired on the front cover (see picture). The front top and bottom have separated from the back but this is easily repairable should you so choose (see pictures). The rear sleeve has also got a few small tears which, again, have been repaired with adhesive tape (not by me I hasten to add; it was like this when I acquired it).

Labels are intact with no writing, tears, stickers or sticker residue. All of the gold print is clearly legible. There are spindle marks however. The original poly-lined white inner sleeve is fully intact and is only slightly grubby with age.

So there you go. I've tried to give an accurate and honest description of the item so you know what you'll be getting should you choose to bid. These early Elvis records are getting rarer and rarer and their values are only likely to increase over time. I don't suppose anyone would buy this to play it as all the tracks are easily available elsewhere but as a collection starter or filler until a better one comes along it should be fine.

Just a couple of more little points to add, as I know the collecting fraternity (of which I'm a member) gets excited over these things...

The track Tryin' To Get To You is listed on the cover as Tryin' To Get You (i.e. the second 'To' is missing).

The writing credit for That's All Right is listed as "Grudup" instead of the correct "Crudup".

I don't know if all copies of the album contained these errors or just some of them, with the mistakes being corrected later...Elvis experts enlighten me if you can.
