Description

This is a very rare early 1960s Taiwanese pressing of Elvis' His Hand in Mine gospel LP, pressed on orange vinyl.

...these Taiwanese pressings are very rare and very strange. With no concern for copyright or legality, they pressed their "western" records using US, UK or Japanese LPs to make new masters and from which to copy covers. They were pressed by small companies in Taiwan (or Formosa), in extremely limited numbers (usually between 100 and 500) for the Chinese market, where western music was officially banned, so they were sold on a semi-black market. They had to be pressed outside of China proper to avoid certain legal complications. It was also illegal to export them out of the country, so the only way they got out was from US servicemen who bought them there and then brought them back when they returned from overseas duty. Most of the time the front covers are poor quality copies just doctored from official releases. Many back covers are different or will have the lyrics printed, some with errors and typos. The US record company logo on the cover will be replaced by the Chinese one. They are pressed on poor quality vinyl which plays with some static, even when new and mint. Some, like this one, are on colored vinyl, with unfortunately even worse sound quality.

Anyhow... this is one of the rarest of all Elvis Chinese / Taiwanese LPs, as the religious nature of it made it even more difficult to sell there. It’s is pretty worn, but will still make a great collectors item/ display piece!
