Description
This is an auction for an ORIGINAL copy of the 1956 release of Hound Dog / Don't Be Cruel released in the USA.
The record itself (47-6604 )is in VERY GOOD+ / VERY GOOD condition and retains some of it's natural sheen.
There are quite a few visible marks /scratches( nothing too deep or drastic though).
This is the RARER release WITH the horizontal line.(see photos).
The labels have NO WRITING (see photos)
This also has the added bonus of being the hard to find misspelt credit on the label for Hound Dog.
This credits Mike STROLLER and NOT the correct spelling of Stoller. (see photos)
The picture sleeve is much sought after and was listed in a U.S guide book back in 2016 as $40-45 in the condition it is in now(which i would say is VERY GOOD+ / VERY GOOD )for the sleeve alone!!!
This was Elvis' first photo picture sleeve and has Hound Dog on the Top of this double "A" sided hit (the other variant of the sleeve has Don't Be Cruel on top)
This sleeve is 63 years old there are a few signs of age.(see photos).
The black and white colours are quite bright and sharp.(see photos)
The only thing that stops this from grading higher is a slight age discolouration , seam splits, ringwear /scuff marks and rips and tears (see photos)
On the plus side there is NO WRITING!
This is an affordable collection filler until that mint $125 (£100+) record and sleeve come along !!
The record is now stored in a paper sleeve and the picture cover in a poly sleeve to prevent anymore wear to this great RARITY.
Overall this was still valued at about $100(£75) back in 2016 , so i would guess this would have to be at least £80
PLEASE REMEMBER THE RARITY OF THE MISSPELLING IF / WHEN PLACING A BID!
I will start this at under a HALF of that!!
With a LOW START and NO RESERVE you might just get a genuine bargain.
