Elvis Presley - (Rock and Roll No. 2. First Pressing CLP 1105. In Mono. HMV 1957. Red Label w. Gold Lettering. Matrixes listed and characteristics verified.
This first pressing was made in 1957 and the Matrixes are as above. I have photographed the labels for sides 1 and 2 for confirmation. It is virtually impossible to photograph the matrixes without good magnification but you can clealy see them on the discs.
For its age, I believe the LP sleeve is in lovely condition overall. It is 64 years old, obviously !! The outer sleeve does have some limited wear but the spine with the title and artist is very good. The right hand corner of the front cover does  have a very slight cut at the edge. The black and white rear of the cover is quite clean with no major stains etc. The laminate on the front is still in very good condition for its age. There are some indentations etc but they are all minor. (See the photos listed above.) The laminate at front and back are still sound. Someone has "neatly" sellotaped the top, bottom and right hand edges but it is all sound and not too visible. I love the yellow and green photo of Elvis on the cover which is credited to the Daily Sketch on the bottom left. I do not have the original inner sleeve.
I have played the vinyl twice recently to check it and was astonished how good it still sounded at times even on my high end Naim/Audio Concept equipment. It played fairly well overall and is not warped. The audio is clear and precise but has static and surface noise between the tracks. The mono press sounded more authentic than a stereo version and I did not envisage how nice, strong and clear it sounded most of the time. 
There are some problems with the disc, however: Track1 Side1 mistracks in one section at the beginning and Track 2 on the same side jumps slightly in one place. Track 4 (Side 1) displays more surface noise as does Track 2 (Side 2). Surface noise generally is most noticeable between the tracks and does not distract too much for the listener.   I will be using a professional record cleaning machine for a deep clean before despatching to the winner. There will be a new anti-static plastic inner sleeve and a new card inner sleeve as well.
The disc labels are in very good condition and the gold printing on the red surfaces are still very clear and only slightly worn on side 1. There are some signs of minor spindle wear.
I have tried to describe this LP as accurately as possible and included details which many sellers omit. I have checked with quality sites to establish its origins and dates. Many sellers will just say a disc is excellent - whatever that means. I have listed "worts and all" so you are not misled.
