Elvis Presley "TV Special" Reel-to-Reel
Here's a piece of archaic music technology, waiting for someone with the right vintage gear to unlock its magical sounds: the reel-to-reel edition of the ELVIS PRESLEY album "TV Special," released in this long abandoned format in1968 by RCA. Not many of these kicking around anymore! After years of mediocre records and worse movies, Elvis roared back with this searing television special, cutting loose with a tough, bluesy, sexy show that restored his credibility overnight. The King put everything he had into this performance... it's said that he collapsed from exhaustion backstage after his finale, a riveting rendition of "If I Can Dream." The photo of Elvis on the cover, tearing it up in a sharp white suit, says it all. The reel appears to be in excellent shape, while the box shows moderate handling wear. It is a mono tape recorded at 3 3/4 IPS.
