Elvis Presley The Best Years LP 33rpm Vinyl Viktorie NS 13026.

This very rare, sought after bootleg is from my collection of over 150 Elvis bootleg vinyl LPs that I have been collecting for over 30 years.

This is the 2nd Elvis Bootleg LP release dating from August 1971. (The first Elvis bootleg release is “Please Release Me” from 1970)

This white printed cover release listed here is rumoured to be limited to a mere HANDFUL printed worldwide which makes this one of the rarest collectable releases and a very rare opportunity to obtain one of the rarest, sought after Elvis bootleg LPs.

“The Best Years” was also released with the “I Wanna Be A Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” cover with a rumoured 1000 copies made.

Other white cover versions exist of this LP with one version having the track listing stuck onto the front, and other versions with an  Elvis picture on the front that I believe were made after this printed cover as they were cheaper and quicker to produce.

The front cover has the words, “ “THE BEST YEARS” ELVIS PRESLEY” printed along with the track listing in purple coloured ink complete with a lot of amusing spelling errors such as Side 1, Track 6: “TEACHOUSE ROCK”

The quality of Elvis’ bootlegs vary over each release and this release has overall very good sound. It has much better sound than it’s predecessor, “Please Release Me”. Obviously it has the usual pops and clicks of these sort of recordings, but the rarity supersedes these imperfections. Please note that these recordings were released well before they saw the light of any official release which makes these extra special and super-rare at the time of the bootleg release.

This LP is in very good condition. Other than a noticeable couple of scuff marks on side A, the vinyl looks in good shape with only a few surface marks. The cover is in very good condition for it’s age with no tears/ rips / frays or pen marks.

The front cover is glossed but the back cover is not. The back cover is blank and has a few age marks similar to the front cover that have always been there since I originally bought it. (Please see photos for visual details)

The labels look new, with no tears rips or marks on either label.

Side 1, Track 9; Fame And Fortune has a jump on the intro just before Elvis starts to sing. This has always been there since I bought the LP originally, so I am unsure if it is on the original pressing or not, as I’ve never owned another copy for comparison.

These releases contain historical, unreleased at the time recordings which were not released through official sources and so were only available to people like myself who had direct contact with the bootleggers and their suppliers, or fans who attended record collector’s fairs throughout the world.
