Recorded live at Newcastle City Hall, 26 March, 1971.Opens with the famous classical Promenade from Mussorgsky’s classic. Near silent grooves make this a stunning intro to this very famous ELP first press. Organs moan and the synthesisers fuse together to produce the best rock/ classical integration ever heard. All audio channels operate with 100 % efficiency, conveying clear , sharp tones with the warmest of deliveries!

Hardly any interference at all which is so unusual for a vinyl over 35 years of age.A near perfect audio is perceived from this rock classic. There are some very tranquil moments during play, but the near silent grooves follow through delightfully to make this album a very scarce commodity. You will not find many in this condition if at all.

Sleeve has that very rare “factory new” feel and the appearance is near perfect. So many got damaged or written on, but this one has been resting quietly, stored vertically away from sunlight in polythene and is in beautiful condition, unmarked and unfaded. There is a very slight scuff on the spine which is, incidentally ,very solid and square. Slight wear to lower edge but the gatefold opens crisp and sharp, and you actually hear the crinkle of the thick card, showing it to be very lightly handled. Printed by Howards Printers ,and is a true original. No ring wear as these first presses were made with very thick card and has retained that new, fresh feel that is an unusual experience from these vintage album covers. Absolutely stunning in all aspects.

Complete with original blue inner sleeve proudly displaying the maroon “I” on front/reverse and is in near perfect condition. Has a little discoloration owing to the ageing process but this adds to the authenticity of the sleeve. Lovely collector’s item.

Acoustic guitars are soft and gentle as they caress the crystal clear audio channels. Beautiful lyrics are superimposed over the guitar strings and with the live audience participation, a spontaneity is achieved , conveying a very realistic feel of a live presentation. You get very close to the genuine article here and I believe this audio makes it possible, unlike any other. If one does detect the slightest static build, it is so distant, that it never interferes with the enjoyment of this truly remarkable vinyl.

During “The Hut of Baba Yaga”(Mussorgsky)the sounds are amazing with the rush of organ keys and the constant pounding of the percussion. The organs grind and whine with no background interference whatsoever. The near silent grooves make this vinyl so very rare, as most will crackle, distort and hiss ,completely destroying the tones that need to be heard in order to appreciate this rock/classic mix.

Labels display the beautiful jet black HELP Island labels with the deep florescent pink “I” on each. In near perfect condition with only a few spiderlines which are hardly noticeable.

The vinyl is the very thickly pressed heavy weight , a delight for all connoisseurs as these vinyls were built to last and the pleasure of the feel of these vintage classics is awesome. Boasts a mirror like sheen with only  a few very light surface marks, only detected if angled under a strong light. No deep scratches or ugly marks, a vinyl of supreme quality.

1971 release with Pecko/Porky hand etched in the run offs. Gives the vinyl another excellent quality , underlining  that personal touch.
