Description
Emmylou Harris
Elite Hotel LP
Reprise MS 2236
Promo / Uncensored Original
Elite Hotel was originally released in late 1975 (Reprise MS‑2236) and became one of Emmylou Harris’s early landmark albums, featuring her versions of songs by Gram Parsons, Rodney Crowell, Buck Owens, and others.
The “finger” cover refers to the original artwork in which Emmylou posed with her middle finger subtly crossed behind her back (or in a gesture that was interpreted as “flipping the bird”). Over time, this pose was deemed potentially controversial or too suggestive for mainstream retail distribution.
Because of the concern, later pressings replaced or retouched the image to remove or obscure the “finger” gesture -- for instance, airbrushing or altering the pose so it no longer read as a provocative gesture.
As a result, surviving copies with the original uncensored “finger” cover are relatively rare, especially in clean condition. Promo or limited pressings sometimes retained the original artwork longer before being withdrawn or modified.

SALE CONDITIONS FOR SEALED RECORDS:
Sealed records are sold as stated in unplayed condition. We cannot accept returns of sealed records under any circumstances unless they are still sealed as shipped. Please notify us with your payment if you want us to open this sealed record and check the merchandise before we ship it.
Seam splits (the disc breaking through the spine of the cover in transit) can occur as part of the shipping process. We always pack carefully, but the only sure way to prevent seam splits in transit is to remove the record from the cover before packing it, which we do with all non-sealed records. At the buyer?s request, we will open a sealed record and pack the vinyl in its protective sleeve separate from the cover. Unless the buyer requests that the sealed record be opened and packed in this manner, we are not liable for any seam splits that may occur in transit.
