Fine privately issued guitar driven hard rock with a sound that comes in somewhere between Wishbone Ash and Kestrel, good guitar and fine melodies, some pretty good songs too. Very rare, can’t remember off the top of my head how many were made, 200? I think but I can’t be bothered to go look it up, seldom turns up anyway and even more rarely in this type of condition.

Sleeve:

Very good quality sleeve for a private pressing, obviously had a bit of a budget to play with, single sleeve format featuring a illustration by one of the band one the front, laminated on the front and fully signed on the rear.

The front is very nice indeed, it’s extremely clean with no tears or writing anywhere, the laminate is clear and clean and produces a nice bright reflection, there are oneor two very minimal small lamination creases around the edges but in a PVC sleeve (which I’ll supply) at arms length these aren’t noticeable at all.

The rear sleeve is also very clean with no tears, creases or writing at all, well, it does have some writing but it’s the type you want, all three members of the band have signed the sleeve on the white strip down the right hand side. There is some very very slight rubbing marks on the black parts but this is being very critical and it wouldn’t be mentioned by most people.

The spine is slightly compressed but still square and clean, unworn and with all of the writing is clearly readable.

The top seam is totally unworn.

The bottom seam is also totally unworn.

Record:

Visually the record looks just great, it’s very clean and has retained that nice dark shine that only sparsley played records have. The vinyl itself is a lot better quality than a lot of private pressings and although it is rather thin it reproduces the sound well. Seen under normal light there are no surface marks visible at all but when seen under a very harsh lamp some very light hairline marks are revealed, these are caused by taking the record in and out of the sleeve and are totally inaudible.

The two labels are in perfect condition, no writing, no tears, no stickers and very little discernible spindle wear, all of the writing is clearly readable. The matrix numbers stamped into the dead wax are DER 1356 A and B.

When played the record sounds fine, the sound is clear and clean right across the full dynamic range reproduces the aggressive hard rockin’ tracks well but still sounds fine on the quieter more melodic tracks. The guitar has a vibrancy that brings it leaping out of the speakers backed by a full deep driving bass, this is unusually good sound quality for a private pressing! There’s no sign of groovewear or distortion anywhere and the only sign of any surface noise on the whole album is the occasional very very quiet crackle between tracks which will only be audible at very high volume.

In over 30 years of collecting records this is only the third copy of this album I’ve had so I think it’ll be a long time before you see another copy offered and even longer before you see a copy in better condition than this one.
