Description
Who is Eric Troyer
Eric Troyer is an American keyboardist, singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known as, along with Bev Bevan a founding member of ELO Part II and its successor The Orchestra writing a substantial quantity of the material on the ELO Pt II’s three albums.
Eric has also performed on various albums as a session musician and backing vocalist, including albums by John Lennon, Bonnie Tyler, and Celine Dion. Eric performed on the movie soundtracks for Footloose, Chicago, Flashdance, and Streets of Fire.
In 1980, Eric had a minor solo hit with "Mirage" (which is featured on the album), peaking at No. 92 in the Hot 100. This accompanying album titled String of Pearls was recorded, but never officially released. Thirteen years later, he did release a solo CD, Model Citizen. The song was Troyer's only charting single in Australia, peaking at number 97.
They made test pressings of the album and I believe at least two or three still exist as poor quality CD copies have been circulated. However, this is the only actual copy I can trace. It has been sitting in my collection undisturbed for 40 years and I only played it to record a decent copy wav file version. I did this so I could let potential buyers hear that it’s a good pressing, there are no pops and clicks etc. and so they could hear some of the music on the album.
Being honest it’s not a great lost album and very much of the time but some of the songs are excellent, and the playing is top notch, It’s a good deal better than many albums that graced America’s AOR airwaves in the early 80’s.
