Description
Ernie Wilkins, Frank Wess, Hank Jones, Jerome Richardson, Kenny Clarke - Flutes and Reeds
Label:
Savoy MG-12022
Vinyl Condition
M- just about as good as it gets unless you haven't popped it open
Cover Condition
M- also fantastic...someone at the record store wrote the original price, with tax in the old math, in pencil, on the back...That adds at least sentimental value to me! It certainly does not detract from it. Just so you know, it was 3% - if that ain't from the bygone age of records, I don't know what is...it sold for $5.13 or $4.98 (not .99) plus that tax of .15 cents! 'Ya gotta love it, record collectors! BID please! You won't be disappointed in this one. Anyone as old as me has forgotten to remember that the old record stores of the 50s sold their records for $XX.98, not .99. How do we explain that folks? I know a penny made a bigger difference, so 2 cents meant a lot back then! Kept you from forkin' out the next hard-to-earn dollar bill!
Year Released
1957 or thereabouts
Details
Rudy Van Gelder is the recording engineer on this album. It's the ultimate Jazz recording in a long gone jazz world where "so-and-so 'meets' so-and-so"....SO, don't miss this one in this shape. I'm hard-pressed (excuse the pun) to find a flaw in this one - ONLY 3 days listed! Great music for a wide range of jazz collectors.
Personal / Other
I have collected for over 50 years, since 1958, in Miami, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, New York, and Chicago, and Arizona. I am selling only those albums I feel would be appropriate for the world market - not the junk and common ones.
We will include any album which is: in demand because of the current market, or, is unlisted or very rare. I am not trying to make the kind of money on these albums that many other full-time professional sellers require, because I will be exiting this market permanently after a relatively short time. I would like to note that I was selling records on EBay (and at the Austin Record Convention) over ten years ago, long before most of the top sellers of today. Most of my EBay feedback/recommendations come from that period.
I am retired and live in Sonora, but I have all my albums in US storage and they will be mailed from Arizona.
While I will not accept returns, I will trust the buyer to tell me if the album is far from the description I have given it. I will try to find a resolution acceptable to both of us without a return. Please also read my return statement below.

Grading
Still-Sealed Mint (SSM): The album is sealed in its original packaging and has never been played.
Mint (M-): This is the highest grade for records that have been played. The album is in excellent condition and shows no visible signs of wear or damage that will affect sound quality.
VG+: While not flawless, the condition is very good, showing only minimal signs of use. Any visible blemishes should have minimal effect on play quality. This record should satisfy all but the most strict of collectors. There may be slight ring or cover wear, or minor writing on the cover.
VG: Vinyl may have scratches and/or other visual blemishes, but should play through without skipping or repeating. Light surface noise and/or crackle may be present during quiet passages or between tracks. Covers may have moderate ring and/or edge wear, cut-outs / hole punches, or a moderate seam splits.
VG- and below: The sound quality is low and the cover may be in very poor shape. We consider any item graded at or below VG- as a LOW GRADE item. We only sell albums rated VG- and above - unless a record is so rare that its presence in the collection transcends the poor quality of the vinyl or cover.
Note: Our custom grading system is not based on the Goldmine system.
Return Policy
All records cannot be returned, but I may refund all or part of the selling price if the buyer can give me a good reason. The reason for this policy is that I am liquidating my entire collection and have no need to sell at the prices commanded in the present day market. I have visually inspected the albums, but I have not necessarily played them. Please also read the personal statement above regarding returns.
