JIM DAVIDSON & ABC DANCE ORCHESTRA-“FALL IN BROTHER!”-LP-1984-His Master’s Voice- OXLP 7681 EMI Music Australia vinyl album compilation.  Mega rare 1984 compilation release of 16 Australian recordings made between 1936 and 1941 by the legendary Australian dance band leader JIM DAVIDSON with THE ABC DANCE ORCHESTRA, and featuring various Australian guest vocalists - Alice Smith, Edmund Butterworth, Dick Cranbourne, Jack Carpenter, Gordon Rawlinson, Lawrence Brooks & Alan Barr.  Also includes recordings by the A.I.F. (Australian Infantry Force) Entertainment Unit (of which Jim Davidson was also a key player), including two stirring call to arms recordings – “WHO’LL PUT THE ‘I’ IN THE A.I.F.?” and “FALL IN BROTHER”.

All songs were recorded at the EMI studios at Homebush, Sydney and most are international hits from the World War II period, plus a song written by trombonist George Trevare.  This is an extremely rare collection of songs which really set the tone for the years in Australia around the end of the great depression and leading up to and the early years of World War II and is a superb snap shot of the influence of the dance bands in Australian popular music culture at that time.  Cover features rare recruitment posters and a forward by Peter Stanley from the Australian War Memorial.  Compiled and produced by Tony Baldwin, who also provided detailed liner notes.  Also includes recording session details.  Sound restoration by Kevin Daly.  Discographical research by Mike Sutcliffe. Album released by EMI Music Australia in conjunction with the Australian Broadcasting Corp.  Cover is in excellent condition with some light shelf/crease wear.   Vinyl is in excellent condition.
