"Rock Hard" b/w "Batteries Not Included" 7" - Silver Records, 1981
I listed this record about a month ago, and the high bidder never followed through, so here it is again. This has got to be the holy grail of Type O Negative related collectibles. Fallout represents the first ever recorded works by both Peter Steele (or Peter Ratajczyk, as he was known back then) and Josh Silver, of Type O Negative. 23 years ago, long before the "Silver/Steele" pair teamed up to form Type O, and even before Carnivore, they had palyed together in a band called Fallout, which also include Carnivore drummer Lou Beato (or Louis Beateaux, as he was known during the Carnivore days). Fallout's official line-up (as listed on the record sleeve) was:
- Peter Ratajczyk - Bass, Lead Vocals
- Josh Silver - Keyboards
- Lou Beato - Drums, Vocals
- John Campos - Guitar, Vocals
This 7" is the only recorded works that were ever publicly released by the band (as far as I'm aware), and distribution was limited to strictly a few hundred pieces, being that it was self released, and self distributed by the band ("Silver" Records). It's heavy, catchy, keyboard-laden early 80's Rock, giving a very clear indication of what was to come, from the eventual Silver/Steele reunion, when they formed Type O Negative a decade later.
Overall, the sleeve is in really nice shape, but not perfect. There are some very slight creases/bent corners, particularly along the top edge (see pics below). As a whole though, the cover still has some gloss to it, and looks sharp. Keep in mind that this rarity is almost a quarter of a century old!! On the other hand, the record itself is in just about perfect condition. It's seen very little turntable time, and looks absolutely perfect, with no visible scratches, scuffs, marks, fingerprints, etc.
