Family Entertainment followed hot on the heels of Music in a Doll's House and while not totally dismissing their psychedelic leanings, much of the material bears a stronger acoustic influence, in much the same manner as Fairport Convention and Traffic were also exploring.
The jazzy sitar lead of "Face in the Cloud" and the even more prominent Eastern-flavoured "Summer '67" somewhat date the affair, and are contrasted by the beautifully noir and trippy "How-Hi-the-Li" (which may have been the impetus for Chicago's "Wishing You Were Here") and the upbeat "Hung Up Down," sporting Grech's unmistakable violin as it wafts over the rural and slightly surreal lyrics.
These sides are set against the edgy "Weaver's Answer," which immediately establishes a broader spectrum of styles, most notably given Chapman's commanding if not slightly intimidating vocals (it also gave them a sizeable UK hit). Whitney's blistering fretwork yields bite to the Grech-penned "Second Generation Woman," while "Emotions," another full-tilt rocker, is infused with an apparent R&B homage.

Track Listing:
Side 1: THE WEAVERS ANSWER / OBSERVATIONS FROM A HILL / HUNG UP DOWN / SUMMER 67 / HOW-HI-THE LI
Side 2: SECOND GENERATION WOMAN / FROM PAST ARCHIVES / DIM / PROCESSIONS / FACE IN THE CLOUD / EMOTIONS

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked with moderate spindle (please see close-up photos) - this copy has been well played, but also well cared for
VINYL Visual: Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen. There are some marks on the surfaces but none of these are of any major audio consequence - visually VG+ (please see audio assessment below) - it still sounds great
VINYL Audio: Sensational audio delivery - crystal clear, warm, rich and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) there are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, barley any clicks or pops (really hardly any worth a mention and only a couple which rise above background level) and barely any surface noise (just a light touch between some (not all) of the tracks - again, nothing major). This copy still sounds very, very impressive indeed and plays with superb clarity, no discernible groove-wear and no distortion and is very strictly graded EXCELLENT for audio - and even though it's obviously been frequently enjoyed over the years it still delivers great sound. Overall, a very nice playing copy of this much sought after original 1969 first pressing
SLEEVE: The original flipback sleeve is good, clean and solid with no structural damage (all the flip-backs are intact) but it does display quite a few general handling creases - but nothing too major. The whole sleeve is still in great shape with very little storage wear to the edges or spine - where all text is still clear and bold and overall, at least a VERY GOOD
POSTER: The large b/w poster is in EXCELLENT+ condition. It displays little signs of every being handled and it is clean and unmarked with no damage to any of the folds
