Condition : Very good condition, I have no intention of playing this, but a visual examination shows a very clean and scratch free disc in a very good sleeve.
Faust (Polydor 1971), marketed in clear vinyl with a clear-perspex sleeve, was the first result of Faust's collage-improv rock. Julian Cope wrote, 'There is no group more mythical than Faust'. Their debut 'Faust' was truly a revolutionary step forward in the progress of 'rock music'. Originally released in 1971, it was pressed on clear vinyl, packaged in a clear sleeve, with a clear plastic lyric insert. The black X-ray of a fist on the cover graphically illustrates the hard core music contained in the grooves, electronics, rock tape edits, acoustic guitars, musique concrete and industrial angst.

So much has been said about Faust and their legendary debut album that there is nothing left to add. Many folks consider Faust to be the "krautiest" of the true krautrock groups. Surely, the bands ability to utilize studio technology to create some of the most original and annoying music ever heard seperates them from the rest of the pack. The music on 'Faust' is virtually uncategorizable since there is nothing else that sounds like this. Perhaps best classified as experimental avant garde rock, one can hear small amounts of influence from the likes of Frank Zappa, Syd Barrett-era Floyd and the Velvet Underground. The tracks flow oddly and contain many spastic jump cuts to odd electronic sounds, deranged studio noodling, ambient noise and of course feedback. Many folks will be floored by its brash experimental qualities while just as many folks will be put off by its lack of sanity. 'Faust' should prove to be a difficult listen for genre newbies. Pure krautrock, 'Faust' is an important album in terms of musical approach and sound engineering.
