FAUST

THE FAUST TAPES

Released ~ 1973

Label  ~ VIRGIN

Catalogue ~ VC501

The music on this album was drawn from Faust's own library of private tapes, and was recorded informally, not originally intended for release. However, since British interest in the group has been unusually great, it was decided to make some of this unofficial material available to the public in the UK. These tapes been left exactly as they were originally recorded and frequently live and no post-production work has been imposed on them.

Condition

Both vinyl surfaces when inspected under normal light levels appear to be in Near Mint condition, inspecting under halogen spot lamp reveals only one or two very fine light sleeve removal wisp lines. The vinyl is flat when checked on rotating turntable.

Both white 1st press labels 'without track listings' are clean, no noticeable spindle trace lines at all on either side.

The untreated cover is very clean back and front, undamaged pinched spine, still extremely square, no handling creases. Please see photos.

The album has been played twice, still retains clean audio throughout on both sides, clean sounding, no distortion, quite passages have very occasional light tick from static.

The album has been protected within a plastic sleeve from new, and only just played for second time to test the  audio. The original inner dust sleeve is un-creased, has aged related yellowing and a small split to left hand side.

Please note all records advertised here on ebay are from a personal collection, and so their condition is known, despite this fact every album is scrupulously inspected using a spot lamp and in normal light levels, only this way can I be sure of giving potential purchasers the correct visual grading information. All vinyl is played through completely just before advertising and be assured all my vinyl has been checked to ensure it is flat on a rotating turntable.

ym40 does not sell records that have been overplayed, or that have any jumps, sticks or distortion. You would be purchasing this record from an avid music collector, and someone who, like yourself also fully appreciates the clearer sound quality that is attainable from this media.

As collectors of vinyl we are all aware that even the cleanest older copies of vinyl can have the occasional brief faint static or even the occasional light tics within their grooves, when played loudly. Frequently played vinyl will be worn and have some background noise and distortion evident within its audio, and it'll be usually visually showing all of the obvious signs of an overplayed vinyl. Deeper hairline scratches on the surface of vinyl that produce repetitive tics, and those with marks that can and enviably do damage an expensive stylus I avoid playing, and so do not sell.

The grading system given should be accurate enough to reflect the condition of the vinyl, and its sleeve, any inserts if applicable. The photographs used within this advertisement are of the exact Record offered for sale. I will never borrow stock images from the web, or use photos from other adverts. Due to the reflective properties of vinyl, photos are taken using natural daylight and not flash or any other artificial lighting, and so they have been taken using the differing lighting levels present at the time of advertising. I do not consider these photos as a selling tool because of these light reflections as they show little of the vinyl surface condition, and so you should refer to the written grading notes below.

Grading System Notes

10/10 or Mint= Still sealed should be in Mint condition. Audio is clear sounding and mostly all from my collection would have been played so I can confirm the vinyl is without audio defects from manufacture. ~ Visually the vinyl should have no marks at all ~  Labels will not have any spindle trace lines and be in perfect condition ~ The Sleeve Condition will be in perfect condition ~ Inner Sleeve Condition perfect condition ~ Insert Condition 'if applicable' will also be perfect condition.

9/10 or Near Mint = Visually the vinyl should have the appearance of  only being played two to three times and the vinyl surfaces should have no visible marks under normal light levels, and high powered spot-lamp should only reveal one or two slight sleeve removal wisp lines if any at all. ~ Labels may have one or two extremely light but hardly noticeable spindle trace lines, and of course no writing to them ~ Audio should be clean and clear sounding throughout, also have no tone distortion at all throughout both sides  ~ The Sleeve Condition should be clean, have square corners, and no wear or handling creases. And as with the labels no writing ~ Inner Sleeve Condition like the artwork sleeve should be clean, have square corners, and no wear or creases. ~ Insert Condition 'if applicable' shouldn't have, any stains, creases, rips, tears found on either of the sides.

8/10 Excellent Plus = A few very light sleeve removal lines or the faintest of marks, and these should be only noticeable when viewing vinyl under spot-lamp. ~ Labels may have from two to four extremely light spindle trace lines when closely examined, and of course no writing or staining present on either label. ~ Audio should be clean and clear sounding throughout no repeated clicks or pops present and have no distortion on either side. ~ The Sleeve Condition should be clean, have generally square corners, and have only the very slightest of wear or handling creases, no stains or writing ~ Inner Sleeve Condition should be clean, have square corners, and only the slightest of wear and creases. ~ Insert Condition 'if applicable' should have only the lightest of handling creases if any and No stains, creases, rips, tears.

7/10 or Excellent = Played a few times and visual inspection in good quality light should reveal only one or two light surface hairline scratches and light enough not affect the audio in anyway. ~ Labels may have some light spindle trace lines when examined, however no writing or staining present on either label. ~ Audio should be clear sounding throughout no repeated clicks from any of the hairlines if any are present on the vinyl surface. May have the occasional infrequent light tics present but have no distortion on either side. ~ The Sleeve Condition should be clean; the corners may have some light wear, and have some handling creases. Untreated sleeves may have the occasional light stain, however the sleeve will not have any writing ~ Inner Sleeve Condition, may have aged with discolouration due to this, and may have slight wear and creases. ~ Insert Condition 'if applicable' should have only the lightest of handling creases. No rips, tears found on either of the sides.

6/10 or Very Good Plus = Visually the vinyl has a couple of light scratches that may sound as brief clicks ~ Labels will have some light spindle trace lines, however no writing on either label, matt paper labels could have the occasional light stain from handling. ~ Audio may have brief clicks from hairlines however not overpowering to the music or damaging to your stylus. The Audio may also have the occasional infrequent light tics present and brief areas of light not but not overpowering background noise. ~ The Sleeve Condition if untreated may have the occasional light stain, the corners may have some wear, and also have some handling creases, which will be more obvious on laminated sleeves, the sleeve will not have any writing ~ Inner Sleeve Condition, may have aged with discolouration due to this, and may have wear and creases. ~ Insert Condition 'if applicable' may have handling creases and may have a small tear.
