PRESSED ON HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL WITH THE FIRST ISSUE BLACK AND WHITE VIRGIN LABELS

THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL BLACK AND WHITE "UWE NETTELBECK" SLEEVE WITH TOP AND BOTTOM 'PINCHED' SPINE AND BRIDGIT RILEY'S "CREST" PAINTING ON THE REVERSE
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL PLAIN WHITE INNER SLEEVE WITH "MADE IN ENGLAND" AND UK PATENT NUMBER PRINTED IN BLUE
This was the release that "broke" Faust to a British audience, mostly because of a marketing gimmick whereby the then-infant Virgin label sold it in shops for 49p.
Still, it's no mean feat to sell 50,000 copies of rock this avant-garde, no matter what the cost.
It's a continuous 43-minute piece with about 26 discrete passages, it roams from crash 'n' mash drums and fierce art rock jamming to rather pretty, if inscrutable, bits of folk-rock and spoken word, with odd shards of melody sticking out like glass in a tire.
There are rough reference points to Can and Zappa in the torrid editing and British Canterbury bands in the goofier, more rock-driven parts, but this is not immediately accessible, taking a few plays to get a grip on, though most pop-oriented listeners didn't get that far

Clean, unmarked labels with barely a spindle trace - this copy has seen very little play

The vinyl surfaces retains their original deep glossy sheen and are practically unmarked
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
My play-check at a loud volume revealed no major audio issues of note - no scratches, no loud clicks or pops and no surface noise to speak of (which is pretty exceptional as there are many quiet passages).
Plays beautifully from start to finish - one of the finest, cleanest sounding copies I have heard - rare to find playing this well
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
The 1st issue black and white matt cover is also in great condition.
Beautifully clean with none of the common ring wear or grubby marks and the edges and spine are crisp and square.
A small 'knock' to the back bottom edge (please see close-up photo) is the only (very minor) detracting feature
