THIS LOOKS AND PLAYS SUPER CLEAN. NO AUDIO BETWEEN THE TRACKS. LOOKS ALMOST BRAND NEW. THERE'S SOME VERY, VERY LIGHT BACKGROUND SOUND, MAINLY ON THE LEAD IN GROOVE ON BOTH SIDES. AND THERE'S A VERY, VERY FAINT “LINE” ON SIDE TWO THROUGH TRACKS 3-6, BUT I DIDN'T HEAR ANY SKIPS, POPS, CLICKS, COULD BE A LIGHT PAPER SCUFF. JUST AS AN F.Y.I. THIS LOOKS AND PLAYS SUPER CLEAN FOR IT'S AGE.

PERSONAL NOTE: I MOVED TO HOLLYWOOD IN THE SPRING OF 1989, LONG AFTER FEAR RULED THE LOCAL PUNK SCENE ALONG WITH BLACK FLAG AND OTHERS, BUT I USED TO GO SEE BANDS AT A BAR/CLUB HERE CALLED THE GASLIGHT, AND ONE OF THE DOORMEN THERE WAS A NICE GUY WHO INTRODUCED HIMSELF TO ME AS “DERF”, I SOON FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS DERF THE BASS PLAYER FROM FEAR, WE ALWAYS HAD A NICE CHAT AND AM SORRY TO SEE HE'S NO LONGER AROUND. WISH I'D HAVE SEEN THEM PLAY LIVE BACK THEN (OF COURSE I HAVE SEEN “DECLINE...”)

FEAR (L.A. PUNK ROCK BAND) INFO/BIO-

Fear is an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1977. The band is credited for helping to shape the sound and style of hardcore punk. The group came to national attention after an infamous 1981 performance on Saturday Night Live. Frontman Lee Ving has been the band's only constant member. Since its formation, the band has gone through various lineup changes, and at one point, featured Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on bass. Fear has influenced a number of bands who have paid tribute to the band by covering its songs. Fear's music has also been featured in several video game soundtracks. "I Love Livin' in the City" appeared in The Warriors ‘’SLC Punk’’ and Tony Hawk's Underground 2, and "The Mouth Don't Stop (The Trouble with Women Is)" appeared in Grand Theft Auto V, on the fictional punk rock radio station, "Channel X."

Belushi got Fear a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live that essentially ended in a semi-planned melee.

After their Saturday Night Live appearance, they recorded their debut album The Record, now a classic punk album. The Record was the first of its kind and sets itself apart from other punk recordings of that era, in that the production value was incredibly high for this type of recording. The album was recorded and engineered at the same studio that Fleetwood Mac was recording at and was given the same attention and technical talent that was given to this major super group. Scratch not only played bass on most of the record, he played saxophone on the song "New York's Alright If You Like Saxophones" (while lead singer Lee Ving played bass, as they had been doing the song live). Scratch also co-wrote one song with Ving on the album, "Fresh Flesh", and wrote and sang lead vocal on another, "Getting The Brush" which was about his struggle to get his songs put on the album. Derf claimed that Lee would use up all the record space with his songs as 70% of the publishing and royalty proceeds went to the writer of the song, leaving only 30% to split with the rest of the band members. Scratch was also seen with the band in the movie The Decline of Western Civilization and on an episode of Casey Kasem's syndicated TV show where his band took first place receiving a "Gong" trophy.

“THE RECORD” INFO-

The album has been regarded as Fear's best album and as a classic album of the 1980s Los Angeles hardcore punk scene. It has received mostly positive reviews, with Mark Deming of All Music rating the album 4.5 out of 5 stars and stating that it "makes sense that John Belushi was a big fan of Fear, because The Record sounds like the punk equivalent of the movie Aninal House-- puerile, offensive, and often reveling in its own ignorance, but pretty entertaining on a non-think level while it lasts".He also stated that Fear had a "fairly unique perspective -- they seemingly embraced punk as an efficient way to piss off everyone around them, and there's no arguing that they achieved their goals with flying colors on their first and best album, The Record". Mark Rigby called it "probably the most exciting and impressive, one-dimensional, ill-mannered, distasteful, odious 'hate' record ever made". Kurt Cobain listed it in his top 50 albums of all time
